America is a Big Brother police state

George Orwell wrote about Big Brother in his book, 1984. He got the date close. it should have been 2001 when the Patriot Act was passed.

The act dramatically reduced restrictions on law enforcement agencies' ability to search telephone, e-mail communications, medical, financial, and other records. It also eased restrictions on foreign intelligence gathering within the United States.

In addition, the law expanded the Secretary of the Treasury’s authority to regulate financial transactions, particularly those involving foreign individuals and entities.

It also broadened the authority of law enforcement and immigration authorities in detaining and deporting immigrants suspected of terrorism-related acts.

The act also expanded the definition of terrorism to include domestic terrorism, thus enlarging the number of activities to which the USA PATRIOT Act’s expanded law enforcement powers can be applied.

On May 26, 2011, President Barack Obama signed a four-year extension of three key provisions in the USA PATRIOT Act. Obama, a Constitutional lawyer should have known better.

The president also signed the The National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for Fiscal Year 2012. the Act legislatively codifies the President's authority to indefinitely detain terrorism suspects, including American citizens, without trial as defined in Title X, Subtitle D, SEC 1021(a-e) of the law.

Because the police or military can indefinitely hold U.S. citizens arrested on American soil, The Act has received critical attention by the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) and other progressive media.

Homeland Security has become Big Brother. Although it can't yet watch what you are doing through your TV set as in 1984, it can watch you on your laptop camera.

What the Patriot Act did was break down barriers between the armed services, the national intelligence agencies and the police. Many law enforcement agencies now have the same ordinance the armed services have: machine guns, grenade launchers, and sophisticated riot control gear developed by DoD.

The police can break into you home network and use sophisticated audio bugs in your home: the same technology that the CIA and NSA uses for foreign surveillance. The Carrier IQ rootkit was surreptitiously put on cellphones so the police can audit you phone. The FBI has admitted using Carrier IQ data.

Are the IT manufacturers and cell phone companies cooperating with law enforcement? You betcha?

During routine traffic stops in Michigan, police without a warrant were asking drivers for their cell phones which they were surreptitiously cloning.

Police have also been conducting wire taps on cell phones without a warrant. A federal judge just ruled that practice was unconstitutional.
Rightardia has also described police Kingfish technology that will allow the police in a squad car to track a cell phone. This makes the GPS devices that the police were attaching to cars to track them obsolete.

If the police charge someone using this technology, they delete all of the evidence they discovered so the capabilities of Kingfish won't be revealed in court.

The aggressive approach oaf law enforcement goes behind trying to solve crimes. The police are now assuming they know who the law breakers are and are bugging them to catch them in the act.

This is a dangerous precedent. Homeland Security has become an American Gestapo. Our Democratic leaders should be putting a stop to this, but they have not.

America is now a big brother Police State. There is no mistaking it.

Politifact: Time to rate the GOP candidates

What GOP candidates have the most "truthiness?"  Ron Paul is the clear leader followed by Jon Huntsman. Mittens comes in third in terms of "trues" and mostly "trues."

The overwhelming liar in the group in Michele Bachmann which probably explains why her campaign imploded. She is followed by The Newster.

Rick Santorum did OK by hiding in the weeds. He has only been rated by Politifact 13 times.

St. Petersburg Times now called Tampa Bay Times

The wonderful St. Petersburg times is now called the Tampa Bay Times. The Times is one of the best newspapers in the southeast and we greatly appreciate the ability to post some of their articles and editorials.

The only other news entities we are aware of that allows the complete news article to be posted are Ria Novosti and Russia Today.

Of course, many media such as Al Jazeera allow Blogger to post links which we embellish with copy and a picture or a video.

GOP candidates claim they are all po' people

Yep, Mittens, the Newtster, and the rest of this lot are just like you and me.

Of course, they really aren't Most of them with the exception of Ron Paul and John Huntsman, sold out as corporatist shills and whores years ago.

The job of these GOP politicians is do the bidding of the one per cent, maintain the status quo and to dismantle depression and post-depression reforms whenever possible. That's what the deregulation emphasis of the GOP is about.

Of course, they want to ingratiate themselves to their bosses so they have cut the taxes of the affluent as well.

Any time that a progressive suggests that the wealthy are disproportionately benefiting from the Bush tax policies, Republicans shout, "class warfare!"

Karl Rove was one of the first to use the "class warfare" term during the first GW Bush presidential campaign.

Anything that threatens the GOP's crony capitalism is socialism. Crony capitalism is a kind synonym for fascism.

In the book A Distant Mirror: The Calamitous Fourteenth Century, Barbara Tuchman writes about a peasant revolt in 1358 that began in the village of St. Leu and spread throughout the Oise Valley.

At one estate, the serfs sacked the manor house, killed the knight, and roasted him on a spit in front of his wife and kids. After ten or twelve peasants violated the lady of the house, they forced her to eat the roasted flesh of her dead husband before they killed her.

That is class warfare.

Arguing over the marginal income tax tax rate for the top one percent is not.

RDT: When Republicans lose, Americans win

On December 22, 2011, Republican Speaker of the House John Boehner pondered, “Why not do the right thing for the American people even if it’s not exactly what we want?”

NBC Marist Poll appears to be flawed

The NBC Marist Poll seems to have made the same mistake the CNN poll made. It forgot to poll independents who can vote in the Iowa Caucus. The Marist poll data refers to potential Republican caucus-goers, but it doesn't directly address independents. The results show a horse race between Romney and Paul.

  • 23% for Mitt Romney (+4)
  • 21% for Ron Paul (+2)
  • 15% for Rick Santorum (+9)
  • 14% for Rick Perry (+4)
  • 13% for Newt Gingrich (-15)
  • 6% for Michele Bachmann (-1)
  • 2% for Jon Huntsman (No change)
  • 7% are undecided (-2)
Rightardia has a hunch that Ron Paul may win this primary.

Far Left Side: Federal Revenues since the 1950's

It's clear that the FICA payroll tax has been going up that pay for Social Security and Medicare while the corporate income tax has been going down.

The FICA tax is regressive and has a tax cap. After the $107 cap is reached, the FICA tax is not paid. To keep Social Security and Medicare solvent, the cap has been periodically  raised.

Corporate tax revenues have declined because Congress has given the Fortune 1000 C-corporations numerous loopholes and exemptions. This is why the largest US corporation, GE, has paid no taxes for years.

Lefty form Far Left Side is correct. It isn't fair.

Mittens wants to “to save the soul of America.”

Des Moines--Mitt Romney said this today in a supermarket parking lot in West Des Moines:

I need your help, you guys. It’s a battle for America. It’s a battle for the future course of America.

Romney appears to subscribing to the Mormon White Horse prophesy.

The prophecy predicts that the United States Constitution will one day "hang like a thread" and will be saved "by the efforts of the White Horse" Some Mormons expect the United States to eventually become a theocracy dominated by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS).

Who is the man on the white horse? That is Mittens, of course.

US presidential candidate Mitt Romney has said he considers the White Horse Prophecy to be a matter of "speculation and discussion by [LDS] church members" and "not official church doctrine." However, US senator Orrin Hatch and conservative commentator Glenn Beck, have stated that they believe the Constitution is "hanging by a thread". (Wikipedia)

What Romney and the other 1 per centers like him really want is to maintain the staus quo.The headline to this article should read."Mittens wants to save the status quo of America.

The inequality of the American plutonomy with its crony capitalism has made Mittens a wealthy man.

Why would Mitt want to change a good thing?

The angel Moroni
Rightardia doesn't believe the LDS is a cult. It is really a Christian heresy because it added a third testament, the Book of Moroni, which most historians have found laughable.

In addition. the LDS believe that American Indians are descended from one of the Lost Tries of Israel. DNA studies have proven that assertion to be false.

Mormons also think they are the descendants of Joseph and two sub-tribes of Joseph. The state of Israel has never accepted Mormons as being Israelite descendants.

Joseph Smith, the fonder of the Mormon faith was the L. Ron Hubbard of the 19th century.

Both the Latter Days saint (LDS) and Scientology faiths are both Christian heresies. Both religions appreciate men on white horses, too. .

The Daily Beast: the Republican Kamikazees

Democrats have called a group of Republican freshmen in Congress ‘the kamikazes,’ suggesting they are willing to commit political suicide to achieve their goals. One of them is Florida's Allen West.

West is the closest thing to an authoritarian Nazi that we have seen in a long time. He clealry lacks political skill and still sees the world in rigid fabric of a right wing ideologue.

He said this on the  “bipartisan, bicameral” extension of payroll taxes and unemployment insurance:

. . .to pass the Senate’s proposed two-month extension is 'insane' and 'poor policy.'

That is actually one of the milder things he has said.

Allen West excels at showing his ass to Floridians

Why Mittens attacked Sesame Street

Homophobic Republicans are convinced Sesame Street's Bert and Ernie are gay icons that were married in Iowa.

This is what the attack on Sesame Street is really about.

Sesame Street Workshop said this on their Facebook page:

Bert and Ernie are best friends. They were created to teach preschoolers that people can be good friends with those who are very different from themselves. Even though they are identified as male characters and possess many human traits and characteristics (as most Sesame Street Muppets™ do),  they remain puppets, and do not have a sexual orientation.

It's clear that Rick Perry, Michele Bachmann and Rick Santorum are opposed to gay marriage as fundamentalist Christians. Apparently Mittens has decided to pile on the anti-gay marriage position of the right.

It was Rudy Giuliani who said:

I think that marriage should be between a man and woman, but I think that the Republican Party would be well advised to get the heck out of people's bedrooms and let these things get decided by states.

Republicans need to lighten up and stop being against all forms of social change. The "Party of No" needs to say "yes" once in a while.

Another bad Verizon payment idea

Better yet, find a cell phone company that doesn't have such a stupid payment policy.

Rightardia considers Verizon to be one of the worst companies in the US. They are the top of our S-List with Bank of America.

Verizon's Internet service is also overpriced. We dropped Verizon FIOS and went back to BrightHouse Road Runner for cable and phone services. Rightardia saved a lot of money and we haven't missed FIOS for a minute.

Mario Piperni is predicting that Hillary Clinton and Joe Biden will swap jobs. Hillary will become Obama's running mate in 2012 and Biden will become Secretary of state if the Obama-Clinton team wins.

Political Buzz 12.29: Iowa Polls All Over the Place So Ignore Them

The CNN/Time Poll has Rick Santorum surging and Mitt Romney claiming a lead. The PPP Poll puts Ron Paul in first. The Insider Advantage Poll has a three-way tie for first.

What's going on? A ridiculous effort to figure out what elusive, easily-swayed Iowa Caucus goers are going to do.

Rightardia is inclined to beleive the PPP Poll because it contacted independents whereas the CNN poll did not. Jay DeDapper is right that polls work better in primaries than in caucuses.

Who is really winning in Iowa?

The new CNN-ORC International Iowa poll made news on 12/28/2011 says

Mitt Romney is the leader with 25 percent.
Ron Paul --22 percent.
Rick Santorum--16 percent
Newt Gingrich--14 percent
Rick Perry earned--11 percent.
Michele Bachmann --9 percent.

The Iowa Public Policy Poll a day earlier has very different results:

Ron Paul is the leader at 24 percent
Mitt Romney--20 percent
Newt Gingrich--13 perccent
Michele Bachmann --11 percent
Rick Perry and Rick Santorum at 10 percent
Jon Huntsman --4 per cent,
Buddy Roemer --2 per cent

Is this what a difference a day makes. Possibly, because Romney dropped a $700,000 money bomb on the Iowa primary which elevated him in the polls.

But the PPP poll may be more accurate because it polled independents, something the CNN poll may not have done. Independents can vote in the Iowa primary and Paul has a clear advantage with them over Romney.

The CNN/Time poll says it was conducted by ORC International from Dec. 21-24 and Dec. 26-27, with 452 voters who are likely to participate in the Iowa Republican caucus. The poll does not indicate if any of those likely voters are independents.

Update: The CNN poll, conducted by telephone between December 21 and 27, surveyed 999 registered Republicans in Iowa, including 452 likely voters, who were identified by their stated intention to participate in the 2012 primary, interest in the campaign to date and voting history.

The CNN has an error margin of +/-4.5 percentage points.

PPP surveyed 597 likely Republican caucus voters from December 16 to 18th. The margin of error for the survey is +/-4.0%.

RT: US navy crosses Strait of Hormuz after Iranian mining threats

Here we are palying chicken with a civilization-state, Iran, who is backed by the Russians and the Chinese.

Get ready for $4.00 per gallon gasoline prices. That is the "shared-sacrifice" Americans must make to AIPAC and Israel.

What are friends for? Americans will gladly pay $4.00 a gallon or more for gasoline to support Israel, won't we?

We don't want Obama to lose his political contributions from the American-Jewish community, now do we?

Jon Mearsheimer and Stephan Walt probably saw this coming. Both said:

No lobby has managed to divert U.S. foreign policy as far from what the American national interest would otherwise suggest, while simultaneously convincing Americans that U.S. and Israeli interests are essentially identical.

The easy toilet fix: HydroClean

HydroClean toilet assembly

These toilet assemblies are superior to others Rightardians have used over the years. The assembly costs around $15. Make sure you also purchase a flapper valve if your unit doesn't come with one.

These units are easy to install. Make sure you turn off the water supply to the toilet before you start. You will need an adjustable wrench or pliers to remove the water supply nut. Pull out the old unit and replace. Secure the unit to the tank with the click tight nut (1-3 audible clicks).

Connect the single blue tubing to the assembly and the overflow tube. Then hook up the J-tube to the water supply at the bottom of the assembly. The j-tube should lay to the right and the back of the tank.

Reattach the water supply and tighten the water supply nut. That's it.

Still confused ? Check out the manufacturer;s web site at MJSI web site or look for You Tube video installations. There are several on this product.

If you can't remember the name of the manufacturer, make sure the unit has a blue top. Some Hydroclean assemblies have a 6-year warranty.

Hydroclean has a new product that converts an older toilets to a push button unit. How clever! This unit costs about $25.
MJSI has definitely invented some better mousetraps.

Conservative tempest in a teapot

The calendar is entitled "12 Months of Sexual Confusion (Not that there's anything wrong with that!)" by Pulitzer Prize Nominee, Joe King. King is a Christian cartoonist.

A conservative blog, Towerload: a site with homosexual tendencies, considers the calendar homophobic.

Who would have ever guessed such controversies would exist in right wing world?

Of course, aren't the Walter Mittys and other hen pecked men, the real sissies in America?

Perhaps these men need such a calendar.
