Rogue trash collection in Pinellas County

Trash and garbage collection is a tough business. At one time most of this was municipal service, but trash collection was privatized throughout the US and even crime organizations have been involved with it.

Usually the people the pick up have a driver and a collector. Many companies have gone to just a driver who uses a special arm with a claw to pickup the containers and drop the contents into the garbage truck. This means the garbage and trash contents must fit into the provided cans. Without the second worker,  these companies will usually not pick up bags of lawn debris.
About two months ago I noticed my trash pickups were being missed. Often one can would be picked up but the other one left. So I called Louie's Waste Disposal, now called DisposAll of Pinellas to find out what the problem could be.I even read there FAQ which was vague. I also contacted them using an Internet online form.

The Service didn't get any better so I went out and talked to the driver, He indicated that three cans could go out on Monday that included the recycle container.I advised him that I was also adding a Thursday pickup day that was an added expense to get caught up. He said he would pickup two cans on Thursday.

So Thursday came and both cans were missed.

The following Monday, three cans were missed. On Thursday nothing was picked up.

Is DisposAll of Pinellas short handed? Rightardia doesn't know.

I called DisposAll of Pinellas and cancelled my service after talking to Waste Management.

The employee who took my call was professional but could not explain why I was having this problem  I mentioned that I had seen the driver peeking into my cans which I thought was odd.

In any event,Waste Management will provide a 96 gallon replacement can and a smaller recycle can,. Waste Management will also pick up 10 bags per pickup or 20 bags per week with the second pickup.

Is Disposal of Pinellas short handed? Rightardia doesn't know. Apparently Waste Management picked up a lot of new customers on Monday because the woman I talked to said they were having a heavy call load for new service.

Christmastime is a bad time for any company to miss these pickups.

Obama Leads in Poll as Voters View Romney as Out of Touch - Businessweek

"Barack Obama has opened a significant lead over Mitt Romney in a Bloomberg National Poll that reflects the presumed Republican nominee’s weaknesses more than the president’s strengths.

Obama leads Romney 53 percent to 40 percent among likely voters, even as the public gives him low marks on handling the economy and the deficit, and six in 10 say the nation is headed down the wrong track, according to the poll conducted June 15- 18."

This is great news particularly for a business friendly web portal like Bloomberg.

If you want a peek of what it would be like if Mittens was elected president, take a hard look at Rick Scott. He is another wealthy man totally out of touch with the electorate.

Seamus, Romney's Dog, says "Mitt is a Psycho"

What Mitt Romney did to his family dog, Seamus, is a serious issue. Humor is often used to help get our message out.

To that end "Dogs Against Romney"  offers you this.

Grrr!

Sometimes silly is essential in a hard fought election

Obama and Romney take it to the boxing ring for a little toe to toe, man to man, hard core action. And there's some singing in there too.

Editorial: It's not looking good for President Obama or the Democratic Party

First, job creation has been marginal for the past two months with 115,00 new jobs followed by 69,000 new jobs in may.

Has the GOP tried to sabotage the recovery?

Certainly. One of the Tea Parties even advised corporations to restrain hiring until after the election.

But the Obama team has made some mistakes along the way. First it compromised the legacy of the 11ath Congress on health care and spent 15 months on a program that may get gutted out by the Supreme Court.

If the individual mandate is ruled unconstitutional which is a 50-50 proposition, the Affordable Health Care Act will become insolvent due to lack of funds,

The Obama team and the 111th should have spent more time on job creation  and tax reform.

So where do the Democrats now take a stand? The Dems may lose control of the Senate but the threat of a filibuster and the 60 vote cloture rule can still lock up the government. The GOP certainly proved that.

Harry Reid has talked about changing the cloture rule, but that should have been done three years ago. Changing it now would be a very bad idea.

A Romney victory in November will probably give the GOP continued control of the House and perhaps, the Senate.

The Romney team will start talking b-partisanship and want to roll conservatives into federal courts as soon as possible,

Will the Democrats roll over?

Consider that that Bush barely won and probably the lost the election in 2000. Did that make him a less effective president?

Consider that Obama won the 2008 election hands down, but he was stonewalled by the GOP.

Should the Democrats return the favor to Mittens? Rightardia hope so. The Democrats should tie up robo-Romney for two years using the Republican model so they can take back the House if required.

Rightardia would expect Mitt to try to run the government as a CEO as he did in MA. Romney is essentially a corporate type who has never shown much political skill.

We also expect a disastrous foreign policy.

A belligerent UN ambassador like John Bolton will give the US a black eye internationally.

Romney could try to steer the US into a regional middle eastern war by supporting Israel's position on Iran. The Persian culture is six millenia old and there is no love for the US after we installed the Shah as a US proxy. The Armed Services have never been excited about attacking Iran because of the rugged terrain.

Rightardia will expect Mittens to follow the same pattern he used as MA governor and in the Salt Lake city Olympics. He will be a remote autocrat.

Traditionally, the GOP has performed well in peaceful times when the economy is solid. It is less predisposed to handle crises situations.

This is why Rightardia expects a Romney presidency to be a huge disappointment.

However, labor will suffer even more during his presidency and so will the environment. Mittens will want to approve the Keystone XL pipeline expansion that will create short term jobs, However, this initiative is primarily about exporting US oil overseas through Port Arthur, TX.

A Mittens presidency could portend the beginning of the end for the GOP.

This is provided the Democrats can make some headway against the Citizens United ruling in the courts. Citizens United has already strengthened the GOP as a  minority party.

The GOP will continue to attack public sector unions because it is an important source of political contributions for the Democratic party. This is what the Scott Walker recall was about and the Democrats lost big!

Private unions are weak and only account for 6.9 per cent of the labor force. The GOP has done an outstanding job of eliminating private sector unions with right to work laws and conservative legal tactics.

Undoubtedly, some Democrats will be disappointed with this editorial. However, Rightardia  has a realist philosophy. We are not partisan hacks.

Mittens explains Bain Capital

Corpartions are essentially amoral and most of them make decisions that are designed to maximize profits. Negative effects on people are secondary.

GST  Steel is one example of a Bain acquisition that was used for loan collateral so Bain could invest in other businesses.

When the loans got to an unmanageable level, Bain put CST into bankruptcy court. The federal government was forced to step in to bail out the pension fund.

Mitt Romney claimed he would be a job creator in 2002 when he ran for MA governor. When he left office, MA was ranked 47th in the nation for job creation.

Mittens can't shake dog abuse story

Mittens  was bringing the pizzas to a meeting with New York firefighters and former mayor Rudy Giuliani.

Someone shouted:

Just don't put 'em on the roof of the car.

Mittens' greatest flip flop

Yes, Mitt opposed the auto bailout in Michigan during the primary and almost lost that primary to Rick Santorum.

Looks like someone has shaken Mitten's Etch-a-Sketch.

The "nickel and dime" politics of the GOP

Do Americans want to preserve tax entitlements for privileged Americans or start a rebirth of a dynamic middle class?

Do we want the affluent to pay lower tax rates than middle calls Americans in capital gains and deferred interest?

Can we continue to tolerate CEOs making 400 times what he average worker makes? Do we need to make income tax and Social Security FICA tax  more progressive?

What about Estate Tax? Bush suspended and when restored, the estates of 50,000 millionaires were exempted.

Then there is corporate tax. At one time corporations provided 30 per cent of federal revenues, but it is now 6 per cent because of offshore tax breaks in Ireland and the Netherlands.

Many Americans fail to realize that the tax burden has been ever shifted to the middle calls by the "nickel and dime" politics of the GOP over three decades. Taxes have been shifted away form c-corporations and the affluent.

This has weakened the middle class. As one business owner put it, the tax refund at the end of the year is nice, but it won't help if you don't have customers.
