Why Mittens attacked Sesame Street

Homophobic Republicans are convinced Sesame Street's Bert and Ernie are gay icons that were married in Iowa.

This is what the attack on Sesame Street is really about.

Sesame Street Workshop said this on their Facebook page:

Bert and Ernie are best friends. They were created to teach preschoolers that people can be good friends with those who are very different from themselves. Even though they are identified as male characters and possess many human traits and characteristics (as most Sesame Street Muppets™ do),  they remain puppets, and do not have a sexual orientation.

It's clear that Rick Perry, Michele Bachmann and Rick Santorum are opposed to gay marriage as fundamentalist Christians. Apparently Mittens has decided to pile on the anti-gay marriage position of the right.

It was Rudy Giuliani who said:

I think that marriage should be between a man and woman, but I think that the Republican Party would be well advised to get the heck out of people's bedrooms and let these things get decided by states.

Republicans need to lighten up and stop being against all forms of social change. The "Party of No" needs to say "yes" once in a while.
