Pro Flowers drops Rush

Blue Gal of Driftglass was hoping Pro Flowers would drop El Rushbo and it did.

ProFlowers, is one of the seven  companies that announced it  would halt advertising on Rush Limbaugh's show. The company said: 

Mr. Limbaugh’s recent comments went beyond political discourse to a personal attack and do not reflect our values as a company. 

Last May Rightardia reported that Limbaugh had lost 30 per cent of his listenership. Advertisers pick up on demographic changes like this quickly.

The "slut" comments may have been the straw that broke the camel's back.

Rush added insult to injury by slamming women a second time. He suggested that women who use birth control are prostitutes.

Rush has always been a "shock jock" much like Howard Stern. He has used controversy top generate media numbers.

He finally went overboard and the Democrats pounced on him.

Speaking of American women, Blue Gal of Driftglass had something to say, too:

None of us can be neutral in the culture war over Planned Parenthood.

What we are confronting here is that defending Planned Parenthood on the "nice pink" issue of breast cancer screening DOES MEAN defending Planned Parenthood on the not-so-pink issues of contraception and yes, abortion. There is a direct link between the Catholic Bishop freak out on health insurance to cover contraception and the Komen brouhaha. It's women. And it's women in a very "Wake Up White Women!" way . . 

We can't say "I would never have an abortion but don't want to restrict access for anyone else" and stand aside while state legislatures around the country restrict access for everyone else.

Driftglass: Support the Girl Scouts

Rightardia has talked about the alternate universe conservatives have created for itself. It gets its news from Talk Radio and Fox News because mainstream media confuses the right with facts.

The right has its own alternate history of the US. The American revolution was led by Conservative Founders. the Civil War was fought over state's rights and the Great Depression was caused by Democrats. Republicans gave voting rights to black Americans in the mid-sixties.

Blue Gal of Driftglass pointed out that The right wing has their panties in a real twist about teaching girls to have enough self-esteem to take care of themselves, and be accepting of others regardless of how they might be different. Is teaching intolerance more Christian?

Blue Gal of Driftglass mentioned that  many camp counselors were, um, tomboys at at her daughter's Girl Scout summer camp last year. It has ALWAYS been that way, yes, even in the fifties. ESPECIALLY in the fifties.

Blue Gal added:

Check out Smith College or any other majority-woman institution. They are where the girls are, and that's not predatory, it's just human. Lesbians and the transgendered are not a threat to our daughters, get over it.

Buy some cookies from a girl scout. It's been an American tradition for decades.

2. More deregulation
3. Put a lid on environmental issues: drill,baby, drill
4. Weaken the National Relations Labor Board and unions, public or private
5. Increase defense spending  
6. Destabilize the middle east with a backward neo-conservative foreign policy
7. Create a business friendly government that looks the other way when Wall Street and the Big Banks commit fraud to increase profits
8. Veto any legislation that might benefit the middle class
