Wikipedia: What is libertarainism?

The Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy defines libertarianism as the moral view that agents initially fully own themselves and have certain moral powers to acquire property rights . . .

According to the U.S. Libertarian Party, libertarianism is the advocacy of a government that is funded voluntarily and limited to protecting individuals from coercion and violence.

Libertarian schools of thought differ over the degree to which the state should be reduced.

Anarchistic schools advocate complete elimination of the state.

Minarchist schools advocate a minimal state which is limited to protecting its citizens from aggression, theft, breach of contract, and fraud.

Some schools are supportive of private property rights in the ownership of unappropriated land and natural resources while others reject such private ownership and often support common ownership instead.

Those on the right support a capitalist economy; on the left a socialist economic system.

Political scholars such as Noam Chomsky assert that in most countries the terms "libertarian" and "libertarianism" are synonymous with left anarchism.

Rightardia suggests there are two groups of the anarchists and minarchists in the US: those on the left personified by the Occupy Movement and those on the right led by the two Pauls: Ron and Rand. it is unlikely the two groups have much in common or could ever work together.

Gallup: Obama continues his lead, 4/26/2012

Mittens has wrapped up the GOP nomination and Rightardia would have expected the Gallup delta to narrow with Obama.

However, that didn't happen.

According to Intrade, Obama has a 60.3 per cent chance of winning the presidential election.

Meanwhile, Newt will drop out next Tuesday leaving Ron Paul, who is an enigma.

Paul has rarely attacked Mittens , but is still in the race. Perhaps he intends to hand Mittens his delegates in Tampa.

Perhaps not!

Ron Paul and Newt Gingrich unlikely to get on Republican National Convention ballot

The Atlanta-Journal Constitution has noticed a 2008b rule - No. 40(b) that would seem to keep the two of the primary candidates off the Tampa convention ballot:
Each candidate for nomination for President of the United States and Vice President of the United States shall demonstrate the support of a plurality of the delegates from each of five (5) or more states, severally, prior to the presentation of the name of that candidate for nomination.
Ron Paul hasn't won any states and Newt has only taken two.

No impact Newt Gingrich

In a recent Martin Bashir interview, Rick Tyler, the campaign manager, suggested Newt Gingrich was hanging on to prevent Mittens form getting the nomination.

If Gingrich were to drop form the race, it would have about equal impact on Mittens and Simple Rick according to a Gallup Poll.

Apparently, Ron Paul wants the VP slot which explains why he rarely attacks Romney.

Of all the GOP candidates, Paul is the closest thing to a typical American who would be able to relate to the problems of middle calls Americans. We really do understand why has many followers.

What is Newt's objective? He is unlikely to be offered the VP slot because that would diminish Mittens presidential campaign.

Will the party let Newt speak at the GOP convention in Tampa? Rightardia cannot imagine the party insiders would want this ego-maniac on the Republican convention stage.

Rightardia suspects Newt wants a cabinet position, probably the Secretary of Defense.

That's fine with Rightardia because we don't expect the GOP to win the presidency. That should be the end of this political misfit.

A "real conservative" can't take the presidency

Newt  Gingrich should drop out

For months now Rightardia has heard Rick Santorum and Newt Gingrich claim they are the real conservatives in the GOP race for president.

Santorim is certainly a social conservative who is more focused on religion, abortion, homosexuality and contraception rather than on real issues that affect most Americans.

Newt Gingrich has southern fried credentials that will play better in the South than Simple Rick who is from Pennsylvania, which is Yankee territory.

Ron Paul's oddball libertarian conservatism appeals to many people who are younger, are racist, anti-Semitic and disenchanted with the country club mentality of the GOP. Libertarianism makes up about two per cent of the electorate so his chances are slim and none.

Does Rightardia think Paul is racist? No. we don't. He has some followers who certainly are.

Mittens is clearly more to the center than the others. Elections are on in the center, not on the lunatic fringes that Santorum, Gingrich and Paul represent.

Gingrich says that Romney is a  weak GOP candidate and "almost all conservatives are opposed to him." Newt considers Romney a " disconnected establishment figure."

What Gingrich doesn't get is that he doesn't offer a serious alternative to Romney.

RedState said this:

The buzz in Washington now is that the Republican Establishment fears Gingrich will cause them to lose the House and not get the Senate.

In other words, Newt's nomination would lead to another  Democratic sweep of the presidency, the house and the senate.

Rightardia also agrees with Rick Santorum. Gingrich should drop out because Simple Rick has emerged as the alpha male conservative.

All Gingrich's presence in the race is doing is weakening Santorum which is a big help to Mittens.

If having a conservative nominee is important to Newt, he should drop out.

Could a 'real conservative" win the election in 2012?

We don't think either Simple Rick or Newt have any chance at all.

GOP losing female voters in droves

Poll numbers show the gap between Democratic and Republican votes by women is growing.

Rudy Giuliani has warned his party to stay out of the bedroom.

then the GOP blundered into the birth control policy of the Obama administration. Some observers think Obama had set a trap for Republicans.

The Saundra Fluke controversy didn't help either.

And then we have Simple Rick saying a rape pregnancy is a gift from God.

Is anyone really surprised about this?

The Three Bears and their Tax Plans

click graphic to enlarge

The Tax Institute at H&R block provided this graphic.

Which Bear gives the affluent the biggest tax break. That would be Mittens.

Which bear who would sock it to the poor. That would be Ron Paul who would eliminate the Earned Income Tax Credit for the poorest Americans.

What Bear has a tax plan that is just right for America? That would be Barack Obama.

Rightardian quote of the Week

Ron Paul said this to thousands of his supporters at the rally.in Kansas city:

We’ve slipped away from a true republic.

Now we’re slipping into a fascist system where it’s a combination of government, big business and authoritarian rule, and the suppression of the individual rights of each and every American citizen.

Buzz 60 Politics 2.21: Romney and Santorum Money Battle Good For Obama?

Mitt Romney, Rick Santorum, Newt Gingrich and Ron Paul have released their January fundraising totals including those from their Super PACs. Romney raised and spent the most but a lot has changed since January. Still Barack Obama's campaign is smiling at all that money being spent now. But they shouldn't be.

Freaking News: Why Ron Paul understands the Constitution

Ron Paul is old, how old...he was actually at the signing of the constitution...see (he) hasn't aged a day.

Rightardia finds Paul refreshing particularly when Simple Rick makes another stupid comment. It is also interesting that Paul is the one Republican who attracts younger voters.

In fact, Rightardia has heard of a supposed RNC letter has gone out advising the states not to pick delegates under the age of 40.

Do you wonder why the Establishment Republicans would only want older delegates?

Buzz 60: Republican Nominee Indecision As Obama Looks Stronger

Uploaded by  on Feb 15, 2012
Republicans have been struggling for a year to find the best man or woman to beat Barack Obama but still have no consensus about a nominee. Mitt Romney or Rick Santorum? Newt Gingrich or Ron Paul? And now the indecision comes as Obama's approval rating rises and the economy improves.

Rightardia agrees with Jay DeDapper's analyses. Mittens doesn't really bring anything to the table that makes a convincing case for changing the presidency. The surly approach of the GOP toward the president for the last three years will probably lead to the loss of the US Congress as well.

The best thing that could happen to the GOP would be a massive defeat in November. It would force them to take their ideological blinders off and to return to the middle. They would also be forced to deal with a popular Democratic president for the next four years.

The US is no longer fighting a cold war with Russia and economic issues are far more important about social issues like religion and abortion.

GOP is not offering America a real alternative

What the GOP needs is a huge drubbing in 2012 as a wake up call. The party has become dysfunctional and out of touch with middle class America.

The behavior of GOP Representatives and senators has been boorish. Bush barely won the election in 2000, yet the Democrats worked with him. Obama had a huge electoral victory in 2008 and the GOP shunned him and put their party first over a struggling nation.

The GOP must pay a political price for such apolitical and unamerican behavior.

The Tea party has turned out to be the worst of the worst. Allen West is a good example of man who make shrill comments but who does little else. We hope the Florida voters send him packing in the next election.

Thomas Friedman wrote an editorial in the NY Times that was provocative:

WATCHING the Republican Party struggling to agree on a presidential candidate, one wonders whether the G.O.P. shouldn’t just sit this election out — just give 2012 a pass.

You know how in Scrabble sometimes you look at your seven letters and you’ve got only vowels that spell nothing? What do you do? You go back to the pile. You throw your letters back and hope to pick up better ones to work with. That’s what Republican primary voters seem to be doing. They just keep going back to the pile but still coming up with only vowels that spell nothing.

There’s a reason for that: Their pile is out of date. The party has let itself become the captive of conflicting ideological bases: anti-abortion advocates, anti-immigration activists, social conservatives worried about the sanctity of marriage, libertarians who want to shrink government, and anti-tax advocates who want to drown government in a bathtub.

Sorry, but you can’t address the great challenges America faces today with that incoherent mix of hardened positions. I’ve argued that maybe we need a third party to break open our political system. But that’s a long shot. What we definitely and urgently need is a second party — a coherent Republican opposition that is offering constructive conservative proposals on the key issues and is ready for strategic compromises to advance its interests and those of the country.

The real problem with the Party of No is that offers American voters no real alternatives. Pushing religion and family values as Newt Gingrich and Rick Santorum do fools no one. Rightardia agrees with George Soros that Mitt Romney offers little contrast to President Obama.

Ron Paul is interesting but many of his ideas are reactionary and unworkable. There are good reasons why  only 34 people, who are libertarians, hold political office in the US.
