The right wing hit list keeps growing

You can also add the mainstream media and Europe to the list.

DriftGlass: The imaginary American left

From DriftGlass:

Pound for pound, Centrism is the biggest and most debilitating lie in American politics bar none.  It is the Big Lie that makes all the little lies possible, which is why I focus so hard on those who traffic in it.  They are the ones most vulnerable to and terrified of being called out in public.  They  are the ones we must run out of the media on a rail.

Rightardia agrees that the so-called "left" in the US is equivalent to the center in Europe. The Democratic Party in the US has more in common with centrist Liberal Party in the UK than the left wing Labour Party.

There is a Green Party in Europe that wins seats in legislatures. In the US we have a club in the US that advocates environmental issues, the Sierra club.

Socialism is a dirty word in the US and nearly six in ten Americans have an unfavorable view of this -ism: See http://www.gallup.com/poll/125645/socialism-viewed-positively-americans.aspx

Yet only 53 per cent of Americans believe capitalism is better than socialism. Twenty per cent disagree. See http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/general_politics/april_2009/just_53_say_capitalism_better_than_socialism

The Republicans have represented the one per cent and affluent for decades. How can the race be this even be close?

Mittens is as big an oaf as his father, George, was and pays a lower income tax rate than middle class Americans. He talks about his friends who own auto racing and NFL teams and is putting a car lift in one of his new homes. He now has only two homes, down from the five he owned in the last election.

Mittens recently indicated he didn't want people to know about his plans as president because people wouldn't vote for him.

Check out Romney bio on Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mitt_romney

He was an unpopular MA governor who vetoed 800 bills and had most of his vetoes overturned. He left office with 30 per cent approval. That is why he didn't run for reelection.

Mittens even stated he anticipated being a one term president.

Why?

Because he knows his policies will be unpopular when he tries to run the US like a private equity firm.

60 Minutes - Who Are "Sovereign Citizens"?

A respected Sarasota detective in the police department went to the local courthouse and did something stupid.

He had some vague notion of needing to get back to this country's "roots."

Following the advice of his older brother, he filed a set of strange documents, declaring himself "a flesh and blood, living, breathing, biological man," and an "American National Sovereign."

The documents seemed to say he was no longer a citizen and didn't have to follow any laws. "I, one Thomas Michael Laughlin Senior, Free man ... "

What he actually was doing was affiliating with an estimated 300,000 disgruntled Americans who believe the government is illegitimate. Read the companion article that is courtesy of the St.Petersburg Times.

Why is the incredible human brain is shrinking?

The double whammy of religion and conservatism

Most people don't know this but the human brain has shrunk dramatically for the past 100,000 years. Scientists agree that the brain has shrunk by 8-10%. This is no surprise to people who have studied anthropology. The brain of homo neanderthalis was actually larger than that of homo sapiens. The large size did not provide an evolutionary advantage for our extinct cousin.

Rightardia thinks it knows why the brain is shrinking. The first cause of shrinkage was when man invented religion and created God. This had a tremendous effect of dumbing up people who were taught to follow dogma and to do what the priests told them. This was the first assault of free thought. People actually believed that a God or Gods lived up in the heavens and controlled everything on Earth. This produced a 'what me worry mentality" and the brain began to shrink.

The second assault on the brain was conservatism. Conservative thought essentially puts the brain into a box that discourages any thoughts which do not conform to conservative ideology. Conservatives are notorious conformists who must think inside the box. No one should be surprised that conservative and religious thought have a lot in common.

These two forces: religion and conservatism have combined to shrink the brains of many Americans who live in the South and West. The shrinkage has been hastened since the rise of Fox News, Rush Limbaugh and the Tea Party movement.

What is the result? We now have many parts of America inhabited by slack-jawed yokels whose minds have been numbed by right wing media, guns, beer and religion.

What is the only hope for these people? That would be progressive and liberal thought. But it is very hard for people with a diminished intellectual thought to grasp complex progressive and liberal ideas. In fact, Lawrence Kohlberg, an ethical philosopher, didn't believe that liberal or post-conventional thought developed in humans until they were in their mid-thirties.

How else can you explain that Tea Partiers would be against reforms to health care that will benefit the vast majority of Americans and the middle class? So many Americans have been dulled by religion and conservatism that they can barely determine what is in their best interest.

Any new ideas that are outside of the conservative box are considered socialistic or communistic. These ignorant masses are controlled by their conservative and religious handlers: the evangelicals, the corporatists, fraternity and sorority sisters, and the right wing media who wish to maintain the status quo.

If the mind numbing effects of religion and conservatism continue, our world will, indeed, become the Planet of the Apes!

Newsy.com: Is Wikipedia here to stay?

Here is another insightful article from Newsy.com.  Rightardia has used a tremendous amount of information from Wikipedia to write articles. It is a free online encyclopedia that is equivalent to Encyclopedia Britannica.

Wikipedia is useful in refuting misinformation disseminated from the right. Right wingers have tried to suggest the Democrats caused the Great Depression after Calvin Coolidge and Herbert Hoover had been in office for 10 years. The Great Depression started during the Hoover administration.

The right wing has also tried to associate fascism and Nazism with the left that is historically inaccurate. The right also insisted there were WMDs in Iraq.  That was also a conservative lie that Wikipedia debunked.

Right wing personality files for bankruptcy

Actor Stephen Baldwin filed for bankruptcy on Tuesday in a New York court.

The 43-year-old actor filed for Chapter 11 protection claiming he owes more than $2.3 million and owns a New York property valued at only $1.1 million. His wife, Kennya Baldwin, also is named in the document.

Baldwin became a born-again Christian after the 9/11 attack. In the same year, Baldwin, Mario D'Ortenzio and Bobby Brewer founded Breakthrough Ministries,

In 2007 Daniel Southern joined Baldwin as President of his ministries. In late 2008 Baldwin formed a for-profit organization called Antioch Ministry, which exists "to facilitate the gifts and calling of Stephen Baldwin."

In 2009 Baldwin and Southern launched a third ministry called "Now More Than Ever" designed to reach enlisted men and women in the military around the world.

In 2008, Baldwin teamed up with conservative, evangelical Christian talk-radio host Kevin McCullough to put together a Saturday radio show called, "Baldwin/McCullough Xtreme Radio." As of April 18, 2009, the show airs on more than 195 stations and in more than 370 cities across the country.

Stephen and his wife Kennya defaulted on paying $824,488.36 on their mortgage. Baldwin's home in Upper Grandview, (Rockland County) N.Y. was auctioned at the County Court House steps on June 12, 2009 after Bankers Trust Co. foreclosed on the home.

Gannett News also reported that: "Additionally, county filings show the Baldwins owe National City Bank money for a separate mortgage and may owe tens of thousands in unpaid state and federal taxes on the property."

Right wing web sites aren't that impressive

Yesterday I was looking at some right wing web sites and noticed that they aren't rated that highly. I have used the Netcraft toolbar for a long time because it it was one of the first to provide anit-phish warnings while browsing. It also ranks web sites.
Here is the rating for Sean Hannity's web site.      Click on graphic.

50523http://www.hannity.comMay 1998Mediaspan Group, I

This surprised me because Rightardia has been in business for less than two months and is rated 44637 by Netcraft.

El Rushbo does a lot better than Hannity and the Limbaugh web site is slick:

1821http://www.rushlimbaugh.comJanuary 2000Akamai Technologies

This is a great rating, but the liberal blog, Americablog, beats it:

1720http://www.americablog.comSeptember 2004Google Inc.

Americablog broke the story about the RNC's new racist and sexist online game which was picked up by Politico.com and the Huffington Post.

Americablog: In the meantime, the RNC sure made it easy to amuse ourselves with its [racist/sexist] website:
The liberal website Americablog was one of the first to report on the GOP website and searched all kinds of naughty words, including bondage and escorts, which yielded suggested purchases including handcuffs, how-to-books and Astroglide.
These results suggest that Republicans may be less compter literate than Democrats.  The last election seems to have borne out this conclusion.

YOU MIGHT BE A REPUBLICAN IF...

These truth are self-evident: All right wingers are someone to laugh at.

1. You’ve tried to argue that poverty could be abolished if people were allowed to keep more of their minimum wage.
2. You’ve ever referred to someone as “my (insert racial or ethnic minority here) friend.”
3. You’re a pro-lifer, but support the death penalty.
4. You’ve ever referred to the moral fiber of something.
5. You’ve ever uttered the phrase, “Why don’t we just bomb the sons of bitches or make them glow.”
6. You’ve ever called a secretary or waitress “Honey.”
7. You don’t think “The Simpsons” is all that funny, but you watch it because that Flanders fellow makes a lot of sense.
8. You don’t let your kids watch Sesame Street because you accuse Bert and Ernie of “sexual deviance.”
9. You use any of these terms to describe your wife: Old ball and chain, little woman, old lady, tax credit...
10. You scream "Dit-dit-ditto" while making love.
11. You’ve argued that art has a “moral foundation set in Western values.”
12. You think Birkenstock was that radical rock concert in 1969.
13. You argue that you need 300 handguns, in case a bear ever attacks your home.
14. Vietnam makes a lot of sense to you.
15. You point to Hootie and the Blowfish as evidence of the end of racism in America.
16. You've ever said, "Clean air? Looks clean to me."
17. You’ve ever referred to Anita Hill as a “lying bitch” while attending a Bob Packwood fund-raiser.
18. You spent MLK Day reading "The Bell Curve or flying a confederate flag to honor Jefferson Davis on his birthday."
19. You've ever called education a luxury.
20. You look down through a glass ceiling and chuckle.
21. You wonder if donations to the Pentagon are tax-deductible.
22. You own a vehicle with an "Ollie North: American Hero" sticker.
23. You're afraid of  "mainstream or liberal media.
24. You ever based an argument on the phrase, “Well, tradition dictates....”
25. You’ve ever called the National Endowment for the Arts a bunch of pornographers.
26. You think all artists are gay.
27. You ever told a child that Oscar the Grouch "lives in a trash can because he is lazy and doesn't want to contribute to society."
28. You’ve ever urged someone to pull themselves up by their bootstraps, when they don’t even have shoes.
29. The only person you can understand on “The View' is Elizabeth Hasselbeck  .
30. You believe McCain lost the last election by 8,000,000 votes because of ACORN.
