Huffington Post: Rush Limbaugh Ratings tank In Several Big Markets

Politico's Dylan Byers got a peek at the latest Arbitron ratings:
The conservative radio host's ratings fell 27 percent in the key 25-54 demo in New York City, 31 percent in Houston-Galveston, 40 percent in Seattle-Tacoma, and 35 percent in Jacksonville, according to a selection of the March 29-April 25 Arbitron ratings provided by an industry source.
This is long overdue for this hate monger.

Some of the big media companies don't play well with others

Everyday Rightardia searches innumerable news sources for news. Many of these are press services but we also look at the Huffington Post, Politico .com and the Daily Beast, just to mention a few.

Unfortunately, none of the above allow sharing beyond basic Tweets and Facebook shares. We had to poke around for several minutes to find a sharable story on Harry Reid who is trying to push Obama's judicial nominations through the Senate.

This is a basic political story that should not be protected by terms of use or copyright, but it was not sharable until we found the article on the appointments  in Roll Call. You would think the Huffington Post would know better. After all, it started out as a blog.

Some blogs even have copy right notices on them. However, some do share. A good example of a sharing blog is the the Daily KOS. Notice the Daily KOS' disclaimer.

Rightardia is able to use a lot of art and cartoons because we have asked permission to do so. There are substantially more artists and cartoonists with Democratic sympathies than Republican.

That is probably do to the sentiments of the GOP to suppress the arts and public media.

Our favorite sites that share? That  would be Al Jazeerra, Haaretz, Ria Novosti and the Tampa Bay Times. Al Jazeera, Haaretz,  and the Tampa bay Times have sharing Blogger hyperlinks.

Ria Novosti has sharable HTML scripts. We use the scripts to embed RN article thumb nails and cartoons .

We think some of the media would be smarter to embed links and services for the different blogs and or to use scripts to make their content sharable.

From our perspective, it seems pointless to find an article in the Huffington Post and then have to look for another source that will share the information.

We have had to do that a lot lately.

Politico: GOP has gone over the top

Joe Wilson’s outburst Wednesday night drew winces from Republicans worried that their party is becoming known less for its ideals and more for the pettiness of its vitriol.

“Neither party has an exclusive on whack jobs,” says Republican media consultant Mark McKinnon. “Unfortunately, right now the Democrats generally get defined by President Obama, and Republicans, who have no clear leadership, get defined by crackpots — and then they begin to define the Republican Party in the mind of the general public.” Rightardia suggests that the GOP has a convincing lead in the whack job and the wing nut arms race.

We have foreign born Orly Taitz, insisting that the commander in chief was born in Kenya. There’s a flock of town hall protesters, waving photos of the president in a Hitler moustache. Former GOP vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin warns darkly that Obama is planning “death panels” for senior citizens. Ohio Rep. Jean Schmidt — last heard calling John Murtha a “coward” — tells a birther: “I agree with you, but the courts don’t.” Michele Bachman is regularly featured on MSNBC cable news for her absurd comments like "We're running out of rich people in this country."

And then, in the midst of all the catcalls, hand-held signs displaying “I’m not listening, Joe Wilson interrupts Obama’s address to a joint session of Congress by shouting, “You lie!” Meanwhile House Minority whip, Eric Cantor, twittered on his BlackBerry during the Obama speech.

Conservative goal: No health reform at all

August 11, 2009
Conservative activists are now admitting that the goal is no health care bill at all.

A conference call of conservative groups, including the National Tax Limitation Committee, the American Liberty Alliance, the “Tea Party Patriots” and others, organizers encouraged their members to pressure Republican negotiators not to back any any compromise health reform bill.

An AFL-CIO official who listened in on the call reported the GOP strategy. “The goal is not compromise, and ANY bill coming out this year would be a failure for us,” the call moderator said, according to AFL-CIO’s notes.

The conference call was first reported by Greg Sargent over at The Plum Line. The notes were also provided to POLITICO.

Nancy Pelosi: Make millionaires pay for health car

Trying to sell a historic health bill to a balky caucus, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi told POLITICO in an interview that she wants to soften a proposed surcharge on the wealthy so it applies only to families that make $1 million or more.

The change could help solidify the Blue Dog Democrats. Their support is  key to meeting the speaker’s goal of having health care reform pass the House by the August recess.

The bill now moving through the House would raise taxes for individuals with annual adjusted gross incomes of $280,000, or families that make $350,000 or more.

“I’d like it to go higher than it is,” Pelosi said Friday.

The speaker would like the trigger raised to $500,000 for individuals and $1 million for families, “so it’s a millionaire’s tax,” she said. “When someone hears, ‘2,’ they think, ‘Oh, I could be there,’ because they don’t know the $280,000 is for one person.

Pelosi said she is open to other changes — that she is taking an “agnostic” approach to getting a bill, rather than working from a “theology” of reform. Pelosi said,"Does it lower costs, improve quality?”

Pelosi said she has felt a certain “serenity” ever since she became speaker and says she’s “ready for all of this.” Ticking off the year’s remarkable agenda, she praised the stamina of her members, chairs and leaders, calling the Democratic team a “partnership.”

Pelosi said White House chief of staff Rahm Emanuel, a former chairman of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee who has tight relationships throughout the House, is “doing an excellent job.”

“He’s great, and I knew he would be,” she said. “The only thing is, I certainly would still like to have him here. There’s no question about that. But I’m so proud of him. I take some level of pride in his success, having appointed him to the DCCC, only in his second term, and as a member of the Ways and Means Committee.”

“It’s such a big day for us,” she said. “I don’t’ think anybody would have ever thought that would be happening on schedule, the way it is. So it’s pretty exciting. It’s historic.”

She’s arguably the second most powerful person in government, yet obliged to court fickle members, vote by vote. Some friends said the nail-biter vote for Obama’s climate-change plan was the most difficult thing she’d ever done. But she said health care would probably be “the most exciting.”

“Every single person in America is an expert on his or her health care,” she said. “The differences among members are regional, they’re generational, they’re ethnic — concerns that are really not necessarily political, partisan. We want this to work for the country. So we have to listen to everybody.

The Rachel Maddow Show on Doug Coe and 'The Family' cult

From "The Rachel Maddow Show," July 9, 2009.

Jeff Sharlet, author of "The Family," talks with Rachel about a strange and potentially dangerous Christian cult that is collecting Republican members of the U.S. House of Representatives and sequestering them in a Washington, D.C. compound.

The core principal of the cult appears to be that God gives political and economic power to those who are righteous. So if you are wealthy and politically influential, that means you are righteous.
