Huffington Post: The states where the Chisters live

Madalyn Murray O'Hair. the famous atheist, used the term Christers to refer to Christians when she was alive.

It should be no surprise that the Red States in the South and the West have the highest populations of Christians in the US.

Huffington Post Tea Party Jesus

Huffington Post | Katla McGlynn First Posted: 06-30-10 01:16 PM | Updated: 06-30-10 01:34 PM

The concept behind the site Tea Party Jesus is simple: Put the words of conservative Christian social and political figures in the mouth of Christ. The actual web site is http://teapartyjesus.tumblr.com/

The juxtaposition of hateful, ignorant, or otherwise nonsensical rants with serene photos of Jeus is funny. It also says a lot about the people who claim to be Christians.

Check both the original site and the Huffington Post for some examples.  If you go to the actual site, you can click on each photo to reveal the person behind the quote, making for for an interesting game of who-said-what.

Rightardia wonders after looking at these examples why the right wing thinks it is Christian!

10 Conservative Lies and Myths

  • The Founders were 10 feet tall and in complete agreement on the Constitution of the US. Guards were actually situated around the Constitutional Convention so that eavesdroppers would not be able to listen to the arguments of the delegates.

  • The US Constitution was written to protect the right of it citizens. This is untrue because the Bill of Rights (the First 10 amendments) were added into the US Constitution based on the Virginia Bill of Rights written by James Mason.

  • The Founders were deeply religious. Some of the really important Founders like Jefferson and Franklin were deists. They believed in God but not organized religion. Franklin once said that light houses were more useful than churches. Jefferson rewrote the Bible to remove the spurious mysticism of the Four Evangelicals.

  • The US is a Christian nation. The treaty of Tripoli signed by John Adams and approved by the full Senate states in Article 11: . . . the Government of the United States of America is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion.

  • US law is founded on the 10 commandments. US law is actually based upon English Common Law. US law does not address any of the first five commandments. Six , eight and nine are against criminal law and seven and nine can lead to divorce in civil law. Republicans break 10 consistently.

  • The Civil War was fought to protect states right or to end slavery. Neither of the preceding is true. The CSA Constitution contained the same federal supremacy clause that the US Constitution had, In addition, the government of Lincoln did not want to end slavery, it wanted to stop the expansion of it in new US territories.

  • The Republican Party is the war party. The GOP is big on defense spending, but the public has not trusted it in times of crises. Democratic Presidents such as Woodrow Wilson and FDR were elected respectively in WW 1 and WW 2. John Kennedy was also the president who escalated the US involvement in the Vietnam War.

  • The Great Depression was caused by the Democratic Party. Harding Coolidge and Hoover were Republican presidents between 1921 and 1933. Most historians most often attribute the start of the Great Depression to the sudden and total collapse of US stock market prices on October 29, 1929, known as Black Tuesday.

  • The Nazis were socialistic and atheistic. The Nazis were right wing fascists and allied with Benito Mussolini who coined the term 'fascism.' The US was allied with the UK and Russia. The Russians had a socialistic economy and communist political system.

The Nazis did have a socialistic wing called the SA, but Hitler had the SA purged during the Night of the Long Knives. In addition, the Nazis were religious zealots who were looking for the Ark of the Covenant and the Holy Grail. Their tanks and aircraft were marked with Teutonic crosses.

Most Republicans at the time were isolationist and America Firsters. The GOP wanted the US to stay out of the war. This became impossible when the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor. Germany declared war on the US shortly thereafter.

  • The US won World War 2. Certainly the US defeated the Japanese forces in the Pacific, but the US contribution was more limited in the European theater. We provided massive aid in supplies and weapons systems to both the UK and the Soviet Union.

Most of the US casualties in Europe were in the air because the Normandy invasion did not start until June in 1944. By then the Russians had pushed the Germans out of Russia altogether. The Soviets deserve most of the credit for destroying the German Wehrmacht.

Mario Piperni dot Com: The Christian Jihad Against Retailers

Posted by mario piperni On December - 6

    crucifix - retailers http://mariopiperni.com/
    .
And with the holiday season upon us also comes the right’s War On Christmas campaign.  Here’s the lead from the Stand For Christmas web site.

Millions upon millions in our nation deeply value the great truths of Christmas and the holiday’s inspiring place in American life and culture. We hope you will take a moment to “Stand for Christmas” by sharing feedback about your Christmas shopping experiences.
We’re asking YOU to decide which retailers are “Christmas-friendly.” They want your patronage and your gift-shopping dollars, but do they openly recognize Christmas?
A run through the list of retailers and the comments posted by the fanatical right is frightening. Nothing will please these people until a Christian theocracy is set up.  Here’s a sampling of the comments posted for Gap. Much has to do with the holiday commercial the retailer posted (see below).
Just saw the new Gap commercial. I am so disappointed that I will not be shopping at Gap or her sister stores again until they have a change of heart. I don’t understand why they can’t just say Merry Christmas, accept my money, and end it there. I don’t expect them to have a live nativity outside their store or give out tracts with each purchase. Just celebrate the holiday America has always celebrated, Christmas, and keep your mouths shut!!
I was SHOCKED at the TV ad! Such a blatant choice to exclude the Christian community. Now we must blantantly choose to exclude the Gap from our shopping experience!
The new TV commercial by the GAP still refuses to mention Christmas and finishes with Happy Holidays. I do not find this acceptable anymore. Only Merry Christmas is an acceptable response this time of year.
I was completely disgusted by the commercial on tv for the GAP. Not only was Christmas so casually mentioned, but to push the idea that it’s ok to do whatever feels right is so obviously against God and His Word. I for one will no longer shop at any company affiliated with the GAP. I pray that others choose to join as well. I also encourage others to pray for the people involved that God could reach them in some way and change their hearts and minds.
The following one is especially lovely.
First thing I notice is that they are only playing non-Christian Christmas songs (Jingle Bells, etc.). Unacceptable. I ask a clerk, “What is the reason for the season?” and I get back “What?”. I buy a shirt and when they ask me what kind of wrapping paper, I reply that I want nativity paper or something showing the baby Jesus. They say they only have snowflakes and snowmen and green/red paper. What does green and red have to do with JESUS?
    Sigh.

Rigtardia comment: Secular Human worked in advertising for five years and most advertisers avoided religious content in Christmas promotions because advertisers are aware that everyone is not a Christian in the US. In general Santa Claus and Christmas trees were used as well as boughs of holly in ads, but Christian symbols were not. Of course, Christian illustrators would sometimes infiltrate newspapers and ad agencies and try to Christianise the ads when they could get away with it.

Politics Daily: Top Japanese Pol Calls Christianity 'Self-Righteous'

This could be interesting. Barack Obama, who has said his Christian faith is integral to his private life and public persona, arrives Friday in Japan on the initial leg of his first trip to Asia as president -- just as a top politician there has called Christianity "exclusive and self-righteous."

"Islam is better, but it is also exclusive," Ichiro Ozawa, secretary-general of the ruling Democratic Party, told Japanese media after meeting the head of the Japan Buddhist Federation on Tuesday.

Christianity "is an exclusive and self-righteous religion. And society in the United States and Europe, which are based on Christianity, are at a dead end," the Nikkei newspaper quoted Ozawa as telling reporters, according to a Reuters report.

Ozawa not surprisingly had kind words for Buddhism, which he said "teaches us from the starting point of how human beings should be, their state of mind and way of life."

Perhaps Ozawa, who is something of the Karl Rove of his party, might want to take a refresher course on those lessons. It's not likely Obama will express any personal displeasure, however. Christians are a tiny minority in Japan, where they were ruthlessly persecuted in past centuries, and Muslims are even fewer, so it's not wise to make trouble for them.

While most of Japan is considered fairly secular, Buddhism, along with the indigenous Shinto religion, is closely bound up with the nation's history and pride. There are some concerns about a resurgence of religious-nationalistic fervor. In 2000, then-Prime Minister Yoshiro Mori referred to Japan as a "divine nation with the emperor at its center," as Reuters reports, which evoked memories of the religious underpinnings of Japan's wartime aggression. \
Rightardia agrees with the Japanese leader. Almost Middle Eastern religions are exclusive.
Jews are the most polite about it. If you aren't Jewish, you are a gentile. If you are not Islamic, you are infidel. If you are not Christian, you are a pagan, heathen, atheist or agnostic.

Secular Sunday School: Jesus Freak makes Bibical slavery cartoon

The Old Testament is a goldmine for atheists. Whenever you hear Christians hold forth on how we would lose our morals if we didn't have the Bible, you can pull out one of the goodies from the 2,500 year old tome and watch the believer tie himself into knots trying to explain why that particular part of the Word of God can be safely ignored.

Of course, there are some brave Christians who are willing to stand up for the Old Testament morality. YouTuber Jesusfreak777 made a attempt to explain why slavery, as supported by the God of Abraham or Yahweh, was a good thing because the Israelites were 'spreading the word of God to the wicked.'

However, the Israelites were also on the receiving end of slavery. The Bible was written when the Babylonians defeated Israel and marched Israelites they captured into slavery in Babylon. Babylon is where the Jewish scribes wrote down their oral history we call the Old Testament today.

This animated version of his YouTube sermon was made by Panman38. The sound is speeded up, but otherwise, it is the original.

Shroud of Turin is a fake

    By Richard Allen Greene

(CNN) -- An Italian scientist says he has reproduced one of the world's most famous Catholic relics, the Shroud of Turin. His reproduction support his belief it is a medieval fake, not the cloth Jesus was buried in.
Luigi Garlaschelli says his reproduction of the shroud disproves the claims of its strongest supporters.
Luigi Garlaschelli says his reproduction of the shroud disprove claims of its strongest supporters.

Garlaschelli created a copy of the shroud by wrapping a specially woven cloth over one of his students. He painted it with pigment, baked it in an oven (which he called a "shroud machine") for several hours, and then washed it.

His result looks like the cloth that many Christians through the centuries have believed is the actual burial shroud of Jesus, he told CNN.

"What you have now is a very fuzzy, dusty and weak image," he said. "Then for the sake of completeness I have added the bloodstains, the burns, the scorching because there was a fire in 1532."

"Basically the Shroud of Turin has some strange properties and characteristics that they say cannot be reproduced by human hands," he told CNN by phone from Italy, where he is a professor of organic chemistry at the University of Pavia.

"For example, the image is superficial and has no pigment, it looks so lifelike and so on, and therefore they say it cannot have been done by an artist."

His research shows the pigment may simply have worn off the cloth over the centuries since it was first "discovered" in 1355 many centuries after Christ was crucified.

After the  Impurities in the pigment etched an image into the fibers of the cloth, it left behind the ghostly picture that remains.

"The procedure is very simple. The artist took this sheet and put it over one of his assistants," he said.

"His good idea was to wrap the sheet over the person underneath because he didn't want to obtain an image that was too obviously a painting or a drawing, so with this procedure you get a strange image," said Garlaschelli.

"Time did the rest," he said.

US Evangeleicals in Bagram urged to share faith in Afghanistan

    by Secular Human

US evangelicals soldier in Bagram shown prostolyzing Afghans. Lt.Col Gary Hensley, Chief of Chaplains, in Afghanistan said "We need to hunt to people for Jesus." This activity violates US Central Command General order Number 1 that forbids prostolyzing of any religon, fatih or practice.

Sixty per cent of US Army chaplains identify themselves as evangelical Christians. Clearly these people have lost sight of the mission which is destroy al Qaeda, not to convert the locals to Christianity.

Rightardia had mentioned that evangelicals had been infiltrating the Armed services since the 1980s and many of the officers have attained senior grades such as Lt. Col Hensley. We have also heard that some of these chaplains have performed exorcisms in hospitals.

This activity is subversive and should be stopped. We will never have any success in Afghanistan if our soldiers are religious zealots. Any chaplain involved in such activity should be transferred out of Afghanistan and dismissed from the service.

The Rachel Maddow Show on Doug Coe and 'The Family' cult

From "The Rachel Maddow Show," July 9, 2009.

Jeff Sharlet, author of "The Family," talks with Rachel about a strange and potentially dangerous Christian cult that is collecting Republican members of the U.S. House of Representatives and sequestering them in a Washington, D.C. compound.

The core principal of the cult appears to be that God gives political and economic power to those who are righteous. So if you are wealthy and politically influential, that means you are righteous.
