DEBKAfile: Middle East is set for war

DEBKAfile reports indications that the Middle East is set for war, 


An Israli attack on Iran is likely between mid-December 2011 and mid-January 2012.


The UK Telegraph's senior military commentator, Con Coughlin, called the campaign of assassinations, cyber war and sabotage of recent weeks "the 21st century form of war." 


However Debkafile doens't think any of this has deterred Iran. DEBKAfile also thinks the Russians helped the Iranians capture the RQ-170 drone.

Iran and other middle eastern counties are on a war posture. If Israel attacks Iran,  a regional war will break out.

With the instability in Egypt and Syria, it is not clear what role either country would have in a middle east war. If the Iranians and militias in Palestine and Lebanon are initially successful, it is probable that other Arab an Islamic counties would join the fray.

If Turkey were to commit its forces, Israel would between a rock and a hard place. Israel was incredibly stupid when it offended the Turks.
