The Party of No

If you have been watching the Republicans at the state and national level, certain trends are obvious.

Any GOP economic legislation is designed to favor the affluent and corporations, not citizens. In the case of the affluent, the GOP has blocked attempts of the Obama administration to make the tax system in the US more progressive and to reform the Bush tax cuts that favored the rich.

An example of GOP favored legislation that affect corporations is the Keystone XL Pipeline. First, the GOP claimed that the pipeline would create  40,000 short term jobs. The real number is actually closer to 4,000, I More importantly, this pipeline doesn't not benefit domestic oil production because the oil that flows through the pipeline is for export.

The Keystone XL pipeline is about energy industry profits and there is a significant environmental risk associated with the pipeline which is pressured and heated.

A great deal of GOP legislation is also focused on peripheral social issues of a prescriptive nature.
This is why the GOP is refereed to as the Party of No. Now welfare such as food stamps, no birth control for women, no abortion, no employment benefits, no unions and no sick leave.

The GOP id desperately trying to overturn a conservative reform to US medical care. Us medical care costs twice as much as the other industrial counties of the world and worse, only 75 per cent of the population had medical insurance. The Affordable Care Act got rid of lifetime medical insurance caps and pre-existing conditions. Parents can bring their children under their medical insurance umbrella until age 26.

Insurance companies must refund premium money to policy holders if the company doesn't spend 80 percent of more of its revenues on the policy holders medical expenses. That alone is enough to make a greedy corporatist cry.

The GOP rarely creates any programs that benefit people unless the program is privatized. Medicare advantage is good example. This privatized version of Medicare is subsidized by traditional medicare to the tune of $900 per medicare participant.

As of 2008, the federal government spent 12 percent more on Medicare Advantage than it did for comparable care under traditional Medicare. These subsidies (which added an additional $14 billion to the Medicare program last year alone) will gradually be reduced until payments to Medicare Advantage are in line with the cost of traditional Medicare.

The prescription drug program, Medicare part D, was an unfunded GW Bush initiative. About one-third of the people who use Medicare Advantage are enrolled in the prescription drug program.

There you have it. A political party is not people oriented, a a party that likes to proscribe what people can do, and party that doesn't do much for Americans unless it involves privatization.

Respect is a two way street

Rightardia had to laugh after the bi*** slapping Joe Biden gave Paul Ryan.  The right said:

Why the veep’s rude chortles during last night’s faceoff constituted a new low in debate etiquette . . .

Never mind the endless racial slurs and offensive graphics that attacked the president because of his African American heritage.

Never mind the rude comments about black Americans getting "off of the plantation."

And never mind the incredible disrespect shown to Hispanics and women.

Turnabout is fair play. If the "Party of No"thinks being rude will win elections, they found out the hard way that it doesn't work.

The Gavel: Why they call it the 'Party of No"

The Gavel July 26th, 2010 by Office of the Speaker

In a desperate attempt to distract from their admission that the GOP economic strategy is more of the same failed Bush-Republican policies that got us into this mess.

Yet Congressional Republicans are telling reporters that they are crafting an agenda that will focus on fiscal responsibility and creating jobs.

Facts are stubborn things—despite news reports of a new agenda, the Congressional Republican agenda is already on the record voting against fiscal responsibility and bills to protect and create American jobs:

STATUTORY PAYGO – to restore ‘pay-as-you-go’ (PAYGO) budget discipline – which has been the rule of the House since Democrats took control in 2007 – requiring Congress offset the costs of tax cuts or increases in entitlement spending with savings elsewhere in the budget.
100 PERCENT OF HOUSE REPUBLICANS VOTED NO

SMALL BUSINESS JOBS AND CREDIT ACT – to provide loans to small businesses and access to capital for small business start-ups to help support the economic recovery and create jobs.
98 PERCENT OF REPUBLICANS VOTED NO

SMALL BUSINESS JOBS TAX RELIEF ACT – to provide tax incentives to spur investment in small businesses and grant small businesses tax penalty relief.
97 PERCENT OF REPUBLICANS VOTED NO

AMERICAN JOBS AND CLOSING TAX LOOPHOLES ACT – to help create or save more than one million American jobs and preventing corporations from shipping jobs overseas and sticking American taxpayers with the bill.
83 PERCENT OF REPUBLICANS VOTED NO

HIRE ACT – giving small businesses tax incentives to hire jobless Americans. Between February and May 2010, an estimated 4.5 million new workers were hired making American businesses are already eligible for up to $8.5 billion in tax exemptions and credits under the HIRE Act.
97 PERCENT OF REPUBLICANS VOTED NO

SMALL BUSINESS AND INFRASTRUCTURE JOBS ACT – to create jobs with bipartisan provisions to spur investment in local rebuilding projects and a range of bipartisan proposals to help our small businesses grow, hire and continue to fuel our economy – including a provision to Save American Jobs by cracking down on foreign tax haven corporations.
98 PERCENT OF REPUBLICANS VOTED NO

AFFORDABLE CARE ACT – historic reform to protect consumers and extend health coverage to 32 million more Americans – creating 4 million small business and health care jobs.
100 PERCENT OF REPUBLICANS VOTED NO

AMERICAN RECOVERY AND REINVESTMENT ACT – to create and save 3.5 million jobs and give 98 percent of American working families and individuals a tax cut.
100 PERCENT OF REPUBLICANS VOTED NO

AMERICA COMPETES REAUTHORIZATION ACT –to create and keep good paying American jobs for the 21st Century by investing in modernizing manufacturing, spurring American innovation through basic R&D and clean energy research, and strengthening math and science education to prepare students for good jobs.
90 PERCENT OF REPUBLICANS VOTED NO

HOME STAR – to create an estimated 168,000 American jobs in construction, manufacturing and retail by providing consumers with immediate incentives to renovate their homes to become more energy efficient.
93 PERCENT OF REPUBLICANS VOTED NO

AMERICAN CLEAN ENERGY AND SECURITY ACT – to create millions of new jobs that can’t be shipped overseas, make America the global innovation leader, and help free us from funding terrorism with our dependence on foreign oil.
95 PERCENT OF REPUBLICANS VOTED NO

JOBS FOR MAIN STREET ACT – to boost small business, rebuild highways, and hire and retain teachers, police, and firefighters; paid for by redirecting TARP funds from Wall Street to Main Street.
100 PERCENT OF REPUBLICANS VOTED NO

PUTTING 50,000 COPS ON THE BEAT – to authorize $1.8 billion in COPS grants to put an additional 50,000 police officers on the street over the next five years.
45 PERCENT OF REPUBLICANS VOTED NO

Cartoon of the Day, 9/26/ 2009

The sad part of this cartoon is that many illegal immigrants pay taxes because they want to become US citizens. Attorneys have advised them to do this.

Of course, the Party of No would never wants a taxpayer to get public health care, now would they?

Judge overrules 'The Party of No': Successor to Sen. Kennedy sworn in

BOSTON - Former Democratic Party chairman Paul G. Kirk Jr. stepped in Friday as the temporary replacement in the Senate for his longtime friend, the late Edward Kennedy.

Kirk said taking over the Massachusetts seat left him with mixed emotions. "It's exhilarating and sobering at the same time," Kirk said.

Democrats applauded his arrival. Kirk's swearing-in by Vice President Joe Biden gave Senate Democrats a filibuster-resistant, 60-vote majority with the health care fight at a critical juncture.

The swearing in came just a few hours after a Massachusetts judge rejected a Republican request to delay it.

The state GOP had argued that Democratic Gov. Deval Patrick exceeded his constitutional authority by appointing Kirk before a traditional 90-day legislative waiting period had expired. State lawmakers passed a bill this week giving Patrick the power to choose an interim senator.

Kirk said he did not spend much time worrying about the GOP's legal challenge.

"We're prepared to go to work," he said.

Republicans form secret Baghead Coalition

The Bagheads recently organized as a counter force to the RNC. They meet secretly with a bag over their heads and hold secret meetings at night. The preferred vehicle of the Baghead is the Hummer H1 sporting a Confederate Battle flag.

The Bagheads don't wear the bags to intimidate blacks or Hispanics. They wear them because they are embarrassed to be Republican. And for good reason: the GOP sucks. The organization has a structure similar to the old Klu Klux Klan.

Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele has been roundly criticized by the Bagheads for his first 100 days in office. A member of the newly formed Baghead Coalition told Rightardia News that when the RNC had met in an extraordinary special session, it approved a resolution re-branding Democrats as 'marching toward socialism.” It is believed there are some secret dissident Bagheads even on the RNC. The Bagheads wanted Democrats to be called the Democrat Socialist party.

Would such a resolution force RNC Chairman Michael Steele to use that label when talking about Democrats in all his speeches and press releases, one Baghead member replied: “Who cares?”

This pretty much sums up the attitude some members of the Bagheads have toward the RNC chairman who they call Obama Jr.

Why the Bagheads are embarrassed

According to Chuck Todd, MSNBC, Chief White House correspondent, things for the Republicans are very bad. It is worse than just about any Republican, even a Baghead, wants to admit.

The GOP is now defined by symbolic symbolic social issues rather than by limited government, personal freedom and a strong national defense.

The GOP made no progress on limiting government in their four years of total control from 2002 to 2006. During the Bush presidency the government expanded wildly.

Programs such as the Medicare prescription drug plan, the creation of the Department of Homeland Security, and the nationalization of airport security, expanded the reach of government. Under Republican rule, the government got bigger and more intrusive. This stimulated the formation of the Baghead Coalition.

GOP interference at the state and national level with the Michael Schiavo family tragedy to the various conservative-led state bans on gay marriage, the Republicans did little to expand personal freedoms and looked more like the party trying to take freedoms away. The news media began to call the GOP, the Party of No. The Obama campaign responded with 'Yes we can!'

Then there's national defence. The Iraq failures hurt the GOP’s historical advantage on national security.

In fact, President Obama has already had some successes on the foreign policy front during his presidency which could overcome the GOP stereotype on national security created during the Carter presidency.

So the GOP has a long way to go. The Bagheads are very aware of this problem.

The Baghead agenda

Nearly 60 per cent of the GOP wants a move to the right that is represented by Rush Limbaugh, Dick Cheney and the Bagheads. With the GOP support of corporatism, militarism and affluent Americans, a move father to the right would be dangerously close to fascism when you add a pinch of ultra-nationalism and mix it with racism.

Many Democrats believe that the Bagheads are a fascist organization. These are same people who call Democrats socialist. “Only a fascist would call a Democrat a socialist,” said Paul Begala. Would Republicans want the Democrats to re-brand then as the Republican Fascist Party? Such name calling was not effective in the general election.

The Bagheads would actually relish being called the Republicans Fascist Party. “What's wrong with being called a Republican Fascist?” said the leader of the Bagheads, the Grand Baghead.

“Admittedly fascism had some set backs in Europe, but the movement is alive and well in the US. Just listen to Rush Limbaugh and you will know what I mean.”

Unlike the Europe where most of the fascists were defeated in World War 2, the right in the US laid low in World War 2. Many of these Bagheads have naive views about war and have no or limited military experience. Democrats call these Republicans who never served in the armed forces 'chicken hawks.'

Bagheads despise the RNC

Another RNC resolutions — to urge Republican lawmakers to reject earmarks and to commend them for opposing “bailouts and reckless spending bills” — are also on the agenda, which the Baghead Coalition supports. Of course, earmarks are another symbolic issue for the GOP. About .5 per cent of the federal budget is for Congressional earmarks.

But another resolution, language that would have denounced Sen. Arlen Specter, a Republican turned Democrat, and Republican Sens. Olympia Snowe and Susan Collins for voting for President Obama’s stimulus package has been dropped. This has infuriated the Bagheads.

Steele didn’t want the special session to be held at all. The RNC will hold its regular summer meeting in July, and all matters could have waited until then. But the special session is being viewed by some in the party as a Baghead “comeuppance” for Steele and an implied criticism of his performance and behavior in his first 100 days in office.

A vote of “no confidence” in Steele — is not being contemplated because Steele’s Baghead opponents in the RNC have already won a major victory by forcing him to accept greater controls on how he spends party funds.

The Grand Baghead refers to Micheal Steele as Obama, Jr, a term coined by David Duke, the white supremacist. They are working behind the scenes to oust him with someone who is a little more white, uptight and out of sight. They refer to this Baghead stealth candidate with the codename, 'the Tampon.'

The Democratic Party now runs America

We are the leaders of the this great country and we don't need to be apologetic about it. It is better to kick some ass and to take some names to move forward. We are the true heirs of the United States. We defeated the GOP oligarchs who thought they owned America and sent them packing.

Democratic presidents defeated the Central Powers in World War 1 and the Axis Powers in World War 2. Democratic leaders brought this country through the Great Depression and we will take America through the Great Recession. We created the Social Security and Medicare programs and we are about to embark on a national health care initiative.

The Democratic party wants to strengthen the US infrastructure and rebuild the roads, bridges and levees. We want to better educate Americans. We want more international diplomacy and less war. We want to lead America into the 21st century that provides opportunity for everyone.

We are the Democrats. We are not beholden to corporations or the affluent. We are beholden to you, the average American. The Democrats are back and we are bigger and better. We will fix America. You can count on it! We are the party of 'yes we can,' not the 'Party of No.” Get ready for the ride of you life.
