In a desperate attempt to distract from their admission that the GOP economic strategy is more of the same failed Bush-Republican policies that got us into this mess.
Yet Congressional Republicans are telling reporters that they are crafting an agenda that will focus on fiscal responsibility and creating jobs.
Facts are stubborn things—despite news reports of a new agenda, the Congressional Republican agenda is already on the record voting against fiscal responsibility and bills to protect and create American jobs:
STATUTORY PAYGO – to restore ‘pay-as-you-go’ (PAYGO) budget discipline – which has been the rule of the House since Democrats took control in 2007 – requiring Congress offset the costs of tax cuts or increases in entitlement spending with savings elsewhere in the budget.
100 PERCENT OF HOUSE REPUBLICANS VOTED NO
SMALL BUSINESS JOBS AND CREDIT ACT – to provide loans to small businesses and access to capital for small business start-ups to help support the economic recovery and create jobs.
98 PERCENT OF REPUBLICANS VOTED NO
SMALL BUSINESS JOBS TAX RELIEF ACT – to provide tax incentives to spur investment in small businesses and grant small businesses tax penalty relief.
97 PERCENT OF REPUBLICANS VOTED NO
AMERICAN JOBS AND CLOSING TAX LOOPHOLES ACT – to help create or save more than one million American jobs and preventing corporations from shipping jobs overseas and sticking American taxpayers with the bill.
