WIN: Wisconsin Governor Walker Implicated In Possible Bid-Rigging Scheme

Wisconsin’s Democratic Party Tuesday released documents it says contradict Governor Scott Walker’s explanation of his role in a possible bid-rigging scandal. 

The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel reported that the criminal “John Doe” investigation into Governor Walker’s aides when he was Milwaukee County executive is looking at possible illegal bid-rigging involving the governor. 

A private email exchange between Walker and his longtime campaign advisor John Hiller regarding a real estate contract Hiller had a financial interest in is at issue. 

The newspaper said sources have described the emails as a possible “bombshell." 

Walker has hired criminal defense lawyers and has spent tens of thousands of dollars from a criminal defense fund he set up to deal with the “John Doe” investigation. He faces a recall election June 5th.

Republicans have been using 'divide and conquer" for years as part of it class warfare tactics.

"The Party of No" has tried to pit the middle calls against the poor, minorities, immigrants and LGBT people for years suggesting disadvantaged people are the basis of American problems.

It is gov.walker's objective to make Wisconsin into a red state with weak labor laws that increase profits for Fortune 500 corporations an also cause income to decrease for the middle class and increase for the most affluent Americans.

The Red State are hardly a role model for America ; these states have lower wages, less educational attainment. more teen pregnancy and more obesity.

Many of the Red States are recipient states: they take more from the federal coffers than they pay in federal taxes.

WMR: Scott Walker related to GW Bush

Wisconsin Governor Walker a member of the Bush-Walker clan

A cousin of Wisconsin's unpopular Republican Governor Scott Walker, who is running in a rare recall election, has informed WMR that Walker is a member of the Bush-Walker family of former Presidents George H. W. Bush and George Walker Bush.

Governor Walker's cousin does not support his cousin's gubernatorial bid in Wisconsin.

Scott Walker, like George Herbert Walker and George Walker Bush, is a descendant of George Herbert Walker, a wealthy banker originally from St. Louis. 

Walker eventually became the President of the W. A. Harriman & Co. in New York. Walker's daughter Dorothy married  Prescott Bush. Dorothy and Prescott were the parents of George H. W, Bush.

George Walker owned a number of railroads, including the Missouri Pacific Railroad, that employed Walker relatives throughout the West, including Colorado.

In 2010, Scott Walker jokingly referred to George W. Bush as his "cousin" because of their close political views. 

However, Scott Walker, who was born in Colorado Springs, Colorado,  is a descendant of the same Walker-Bush clan that sired Presidents Bush.

Governor Walker is obviously trying to downplay his family connection to Bush, especially before the June 5 recall election.

A certain anti-union governor will get a recall election

United Wisconsin collected 1 million signatures to recall Gov. Scott Walker. Both Walker and his Lt.Gov, Rebecca Kleefisch. will face recall elections.

United Wisconsin also got sufficient votes to for recall elections for four GOP state senators.

MADISON – United Wisconsin today announced that more than one million Wisconsinites have signed a petition to recall Scott Walker, representing the most-participated-in major recall effort in American history, and a number so significant that it is beyond any legal challenge. 

More then 845,000 signatures were collected for Rebecca Kleefisch. Signatures were submitted to the Government Accountability Board this afternoon.

The signatures represent the largest recall effort in the history of the United States and 185 percent of the signatures needed to trigger a recall of Walker.

“The collection of more than one million signatures represents a crystal clear indication of how strong the appetite is to stop the damage and turmoil that Scott Walker has caused Wisconsin,” said Ryan Lawler, board member for United Wisconsin.

 “Scott Walker and his supporters tried to demean and marginalize recall circulators, but in Wisconsin winter, an army of more than 30,000 Wisconsin born-and-bred recall volunteers took to street corners, malls, places of worship, dinner tables and sidewalks to take their state back.

The total of a million signatures to recall Scott Walker represents nearly half, 46 percent, of the electorate – and is just shy of the TOTAL votes received by Walker in his 2010 election (Walker received 1.12 million votes).

In comparison, this figure surpasses the per capita participation in the effort to trigger a ballot initiative in Ohio last fall against a Republican union-busting effort, where 32 percent of the electorate signed the petition, and in America’s only other two gubernatorial recalls, 

in 2003 in California and in 1921 in North Dakota, the signature totals were 23.4 percent and 31.8 percent, of the electorate signed respectively. The attached charts outline these figures.

Fun facts about the recall petitions of Walker, Kleefisch and the Senate recalls include:

The weight of all of the signatures collected is 3,000 pounds. That’s two of the heaviest Wisconsin Dairy (Holstein) Cows, or 158 of the heaviest Badgers.

300,000 pages at 14″ each laid end to end is 66.3 miles. This is the distance from Green Bay to Oshkosh, La Crosse to Tomah.

Stood straight up the petition pile is 128 times higher than the tallest building in the world.

Stacked on top of one another, the petitions would reach 125 feet high, which is taller than the wings of the Madison Capitol Building (those are 84 feet high).

Wisconsin recall effort on track

Recall target: Gov. Scott Walker

At first, United Wisconisn thought it would be impossible. How could we sift through the exhaustive list of things that Scott Walker has done to take our state backward and pick just ten? However, after much deliberation, we were able to pick the ten actions that have done the most damage to Wisconsin. So, without any further delay, here are Ten Reasons to Recall Scott Walker.

1. Walker was elected on a promise to create 250,000 private sector jobs in Wisconsin. After seeing the impacts of his disastrous policies, his administration has acknowledged that Walker won’t get anywhere close to fulfilling his campaign promise.
2. Walker’s budget cut over $800 million from our public schools, while at the same time placing caps on the amount of money school districts in Wisconsin can collect in property taxes to fund their schools.
3. Walker cut over $500 million from the BadgerCare program. More than 200,000 Wisconsinites could face premium increases, and over 50,000 people may be cut from their state insurance plan completely as a result of this cut.
4. While he was slashing funding for public schools and health care, Walker gave giant tax breaks to corporations, which added roughly $117 million to Wisconsin’s budget deficit.
5. In October, Wisconsin led the nation with 9,700 job losses, 9,300 of which were in the private sector. This happened after Walker held his “jobs session” with the legislature, during which no jobs bills were even taken up. Let us not forget Walker’s deception from July either, when he boasted about Wisconsin’s robust job creation. Turns out he wasn’t exactly honest with us.
6. Walker stripped most public employees of their right to collectively bargain. Walker’s union-busting bill means that teachers, nurses, prison guards, and other public employees in Wisconsin no longer have a say in their benefits and working conditions
7. Walker signed a Voter ID bill that will make it harder to vote for thousands of eligible voters in Wisconsin. The people most affected by the restrictions in the bill include students, the elderly, the poor, and the disabled.
8. While refusing to meet with Democratic lawmakers to negotiate a compromise on his union-busting bill, Walker spent 20 minutes on the phone with who he thought was out-of-state billionaire David Koch. During the call, Walker bragged about the baseball bat in his office and admitted that he considered planting troublemakers in the crowd at the protests.
9. Wisconsin was supposed to receive federal funds to build a high-speed rail line from Milwaukee to Madison. Instead, Walker refused the money, which would not have added anything to the state budget, and the funds went to other states.
10. After hundreds of thousands of Wisconsinites came to Madison to tell Scott Walker not to balance the budget on the backs of working families, he put the State Capitol on lock down, preventing thousands of protesters from entering the building.

A recall rally will be held before the game. At least 507,533 signatures have been collected toward the needed total of 540,208 by January 17th. Walker is being recalled for stripping collective bargaining rights from public workers in Wisconsin.

Wisconsin's Recall Walker movement will be collecting signatures at the Rose Bowl in California to recall the governor as the Badgers take on the Ducks on the field.

WIN: Wisconsin has worst jobs creation record in country

One of the most dangerous things a gubernatorial candidate can do is project how many jobs they’ll create and how long it’ll take to create those jobs.

Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker was one of two Republicans that were elected to office in 2010 that made such predictions.

Democratic Party of Wisconsin Chair Mike Tate said during a conference call on Friday that part of the reason was the misuse of two special sessions on job creation. Instead of focusing on jobs the Republican majority in the legislature focused on passing a conservative social agenda. Tate said:

Scott Walker’s Republican Party killed dozens of bipartisan job creation bills and instead rammed through a radical social agenda that gives millions in tax breaks to millionaires and billionaires, kicks thousands of seniors, working families, and children off of their health coverage.

On the campaign trail he said he’d create 250,000 jobs by 2014. So far, the numbers have said he’s doing everything but create jobs. November saw the fifth straight month of Wisconsin losing jobs. And a new report from the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia shows Wisconsin coming in dead last in the nation when it comes to job creation. 

Rick Scott made the same promises in Florida and has launched a conservative agenda to make the state "more business friendly." Scott has also reneged on his promise to create 700,000 jobs above and beyond normal Florida job growth. 

That is the same job creation message of Mitt Romney. Obama just doesn't understand the economy and we need a businessman as president to create jobs. 

The problem is that GOP presidents have never been good at creating jobs. For example, GW Bush rarely talked about unemployment and preferred to discuss "worker productivity."

Gov. Scott walker sues GAB over recall procedure

The Republican lawsuit, filed in a WS county court is a bit odd. It  asks a judge to order the Government Accountability Board (GAB) to look for and eliminate duplicative signatures, obviously fake names such as Mickey Mouse and clearly illegible signatures on the recall petitions.

According to the GAB this work needs to be completed by a staff who represents Gov. Walker, not the GAB.

The GAB reviews petitions to ensure there are sufficient  signatures to trigger a recall. It  will verify that signatures are accompanied by a Wisconsin address and dated within the recall period. 

The board argues that state law says it's up to the office holder affected by the recall petition to contest the validity of signatures, identify illegible signatures and to find  duplicates.

The lawsuit filed by Walker's campaign and the state Republican Party argues that the review process violates the U.S. Constitution's equal protection clause. 

The lawsuit asks a judge to get the GAB to do this work. 

Rightardia finds the lawsuit hilarious. United Wisconsin is hoping to get between 600,000 and 700,000 signatures that would make the review almost moot. 

It looks like Scott Walker will next try to get an  injunction on the recall to delay it until this frivolous suit is resolved.

[Mike Tate]: “In just 30 days, in less than half the time granted you have done something truly amazing. Your strength and determination has helped us collect more than 507,000 signatures to recall Scott Walker. And we are well on our way to beating our internal goal  of collecting more than 720,000.”

A total of 540, 208 are needed to recall Walker. United Wisconsin says its goal is to collect at least 720,277 signatures to make sure there are more than enough to trigger the recall election. Walker is targeted for recall for his attack on public worker collective bargaining, but a long list of other issues is also fueling the recall effort. Four Republican State Senators are also targeted for recall.

This is an update to an earlier story Rightradia had on the recall effort. We din't have the exact number of signatures collected in that story. 

We hope Walker gets recalled. This will be a warning to other GOP gubernatorial candidates who have reactionary secret agendas.

Wisconsin’s campaign to recall Gov. Scott Walker for his attack on public worker collective bargaining is off to a powerful, robust start. United Wisconsin is spearheading the recall effort. United Wisconsin board co-chair Lynn Freeman.

[Freeman]: “We have a database of over 210,000 interested citizens of the state of Wisconsin who would like to recall the governor. Our volunteers are over 7,000 strong. We’ve participated in circulator training all over the state for the past few weeks. Right now there’s more than 9,000 people trained to be petition circulators. We’re optimistic that we will get well over the 540,000-plus that we’ll need to demonstrate that the citizens of Wisconsin do not want Scott Walker to be their governor.”

We Are Wisconsin, the state Democratic Party and recallwalker.org are some of the other groups that are very active in the recall. Three Republican state senators are also being recalled. Recall Walker parties and events are being held statewide. This Saturday the recall movement will hold a huge rally in Madison.

Scott Walker is big beer breweries man of the year

Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker’s (R) reactionary budget has a provision to overhaul the state’s regulation of the beer industry. 

In a state long associated with beer, the provision will make it far more difficult for the Wisconsin’s craft breweries or micro-breweries to operate and expand their business by barring them from selling directly to restaurants and liquor stores.  

The new provision makes craft brewers, the 60 of whom make up just 5 percent of the beer market in Wisconsin, function like corporate mega-brewers. 

All will have to use a wholesale distributor to market their product. The small brewer located near a restaurant will have to hire middle man to deliver beer. 

The GOP really helps small business people, doesn't it?

Wisconsin Judge Strikes Down Bill Gutting Collective Bargaining For Public Workers

Wisconsin’s law gutting collective bargaining for public workers has been struck down by Dane County Judge Maryann Sumi. Sumi on Thursday issued a permanent injunction voiding the law. Wisconsin’s State Supreme Court has scheduled a hearing June 6^th to decide whether it will take the case.

In striking down the law permanently Judge Sumi said Governor Scott Walker and Republicans violated Wiscosnin’s Open Meetings law in passing the collective bargaining bill.

She said that violates the public’s trust. In her ruling Sumi said:

The court must consider the potential damage to public trust and confidence in government if the Legislature is not held to the same rules of transparency that it has created for other governmental bodies.Our form of government depends on citizens' trust and confidence in the process by which our elected officials make laws, at all  levels of government.

Republicans could pass the same law all over again without violating the Open Meetings law since they still control both the state legislature and the governor’s office.

Recall elections for at least three Republican state senators will held in July. They were targeted for recall after voting to gut collective bargaining for public workers in Wisconsin.

Hundreds of thousands of protesters opposed to the law flooded the capitol in Madison, repeatedly rallying and occupying the capitol rotunda for more than two months.
