(Bloomberg) -- Republican presidential candidate Jon Huntsman called for curtailing U.S. involvement in international military engagements and cutting military spending. Huntsman said:

We must right-size our current foreign entanglements,” Simply put, we are risking American blood and treasure in parts of the world where our strategy needs to be rethought.
Huntsman suggested the post-Cold War military infrastructure be reduced in favor of counterterrorism and intelligence gathering. Huntsman added:
Simply advocating more ships, more troops and more weapons is not a viable path forward.
Romney, at a Veterans of Foreign Wars post in New Hampshire, criticized Huntsman’s foreign policy position. Romney said:

This is not a time for America to pull back on our commitment to a strong military.
Rightardia applauds Huntman for his enlightened view of defense and foreign policy. Romney appear to be playing to the the traditional military-industrial base of the GOP.
