The GOP is trapped in a well-worn ideological box
In his weekly address, President Obama says the GOP “Pledge to America” is grounded in “worn-out philosophy.”
Rightardia agrees with Obama. The GOP hasn't changed much since the 1800s when conservatives were in the Federalist and Whig Parties or when the GOP was founded in 1854.
The GOP is a big supporter of national defense, likes to start a war or insurgency but is less supportive of veterans after the war ends. Its one trick pony is tax cuts, the bulk of which goes ot the most affluent Americans and that was nearly responsible for half the deficit that Bush left Obama.
Republicans like to talk about fiscal conservatism, but Presidents Carter and Clinton did a better job of balancing the budget than any modern GOP president.
The Republican party is not afraid to spend money on their own priorities such as defense and earmarks. Earmarks are a bogus issue because they account for only about .5 per cent of the federal budget.
The GOP is poorly equipped to handle the current economic crises because most of their solutions will come out of a well worn ideological box.
If the public elects more Republicans in the 20102 midterms, they will get exactly what they deserve: little or nothing.
