Sharron Angle want to privatize the Veterans Adminstration

Here is the response from the Harry Reid campaign.

Given Sharron Angle’s extreme and dangerous agenda to eliminate Social Security and Medicare entirely, it’s no surprise that she would also leave Nevada’s veterans out in the cold by ending their access to guaranteed government health care for the service they’ve provided to our country, said Reid campaign spokesman Kelly Steele.  “

By proposing privatization of the Veterans Administration, Sharron Angle has once again put her extreme and dangerous agenda above the needs of ordinary Nevadans – this time callously ignoring the sacrifice and service of our nation’s veterans, both here in Nevada and throughout our nation.”

Rightardia suggests that privatizing the Veteran's Administration would never work because it would take years because the VA is so large.

The Prescription Drug program is one of the bright spots because the VA makes the pharmaceuticals compete for its business and it has a single payer prescription system similar to the Canadian system. This keeps the cost of pharmaceuticals down.

The Major has had bad experiences with the VA Compensation and Pension (C&P) system while  the Social Secuity Administration processed his disability claim favourably in 111 days.

Although he provided far more documentation to the VA than the SSA and prevailed in the board of Veteran Appeals, his claim is now in its third year.

He has discovered by reading his C&P progress notes that the c&P physicians are biased and rarely consider diagnoses and other information provided by more qualified private physicians.

Unlike Social Security, a claimant can not waive the government physical if it is unnecessary. The veteran often has to duplicate the diagnosis he has already received from a private physician.

The veteran should be able to waive the C&P physical if he or she has provided sufficient medical information o the VA Regional Office. This would speed up the C&P. In fact, the Major believes that almost all C&P exams will be adverse to the vet.

The vet should in fact get the C&P Progress notes and reclama them line by line. The vet may also need an alternative exam by a private physicians to counter the B&P progress notes.

These procedures may avoid another hearing by the Board of veteran appeals because the VARO will not have to consider biased C&P progress notes in it ruling.

Does the VA need some big reforms: yes. Does it need to be privatized: no!
