Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele got a little
ahead of himself Sunday when he referred to House Minority Leader John
Boehner (R-Ohio) as "Speaker Boehner."
"When you lose the governorship of New Jersey, you better be paying
attention," Steele said on ABC's "This Week," trying to make as much as
possible of the GOP's dual wins in Virginia and New Jersey. "There's a
reason why you lost. It has nothing to do with the president's
popularity. Independents came to (New Jersey Gov.-elect) Chris
Christie and (Virginia Gov.-elect) Bob McDonnell because they had
something to say."
Actually the Democrats have lost New Jersey before and Gov. Jon Corzine was not a popular governor. Intrade suggests that the GOP has a long way to go to recover the House.
