Obama leads by 4 in Florida - Public Policy Polling

PPP's newest Florida poll finds Barack Obama leading Mitt Romney by a 50-46 margin in the state. That represents a 3 point improvement for Obama since PPP's last poll of the state . . . . It represents the largest lead PPP has found for Obama in Florida since early June.

Mitt Romney's image with Floridians has taken a turn in the wrong direction since the Tampa convention. His favorability has dropped 9 points from the Labor Day weekend.

Romney's comments about the '47 per cent' this week aren't doing him any favors. Fifty per cent consider his comments to have been inappropriate while 4per cent who were ok with them.

Romeny trails Obama by a 51/40 spread with independents who could determine the final outcome in the state.

PPP: Obama has small lead

"PPP's newest national poll finds Barack Obama leading Mitt Romney 49-46. A similar poll in February found Obama leading 49-42. Obama's not losing support but Romney is consolidating it as it becomes more and more clear that he will be the Republican nominee for President.

Romney's seen a massive improvement in his personal favorability numbers over the last 2 months as GOP voters have unified around him. He's gone from a -28 spread (29/57) up to a -12 one (39/51). 

Most of the improvement has come with Republicans, going from 43/41 to 67/22. His numbers with Democrats are steady and he's seen a little bit of improvement with independents from 32/55 to 36/50, although he remains unpopular."

PPP: MI momentum is with Simple Rick

"PPP's final poll in Michigan finds Rick Santorum holding on to the smallest of leads with 38% to 37% for Mitt Romney, 14% for Ron Paul, and 9% for Newt Gingrich.

It's always good to be cautious with one night poll numbers, but momentum seems to be swinging in Santorum's direction. Romney led with those interviewed on Sunday, but Santorum has a 39-34 advantage with folks polled on Monday. "

This result could make the Tampa GOP convention a brokered affair.

This is bad news for Mittens, but good news for President Obama.

PPP shows a photo finish in Iowa

Dec. 30 (Bloomberg) -- Days before the Jan. 3 Iowa caucuses, Republican presidential hopefuls are increasing fundraising pitches by reinforcing the images put forward by their campaigns. Megan Hughes reports on Bloomberg Television's "InsideTrack." 

The Newster compare his fundraising efforts to Washington crossing the Delaware.

According to the Public Policy Polling, the Republican caucus in Iowa may have a photo finish.

Ron Paul is at 20%, Mitt Romney at 19%, and Rick Santorum at 18%.

Both Paul's and Romney's numbers have dropped, but Santorum's numbers moved up 8 points.

Rightardia would be amused if Rick Santorum won, because he has a snowballs's chance in hell in beating Obama.

Santorum is a christo-fascist homophobe who wants the US to threaten to bomb Iran. He attributes "family values" as being essential to America's economic recovery. Santorum has said:

Isn't that the ultimate homeland security, standing up and defending marriage? 

No, Rick, that isn't what Homeland Security does. The only people who think the institution of marriage needs to be defended are nut jobs like yourself.

PPP:Rick Scott is least popular governor in the country

Raleigh, N.C. (December 06, 2011)– Florida’s Rick Scott got his title back as the title of least popular governor in the country of the 36 on which PPP has polled this year.  His job performance went from 36% approving and 52% disapproving, a decline of 16 points.  

His greatest drop has been with his own party, which is down 22 points.  Fifty-five per cent of Independents disapprove of Scott.

If Scott were faced with 2010 opponent Alex Sink in a hypothetical do-over today, he would lose by 16 points (53-37).

Political Wire: Is Romney fading?

Tom Jensen on Tegan Goddard's Political Wire explained why Mitt Romney hasn't surged. 

It's because as more GOP primary voters across the country have been exposed to him, the less they've liked him. 

The Public Policy Poll (PPP) has polled the Republican race at 13 places in October or November and again between January and March. 

In those places Romney's net favorability has dropped by an average of 15 points. 

Why does Romney lack political appeal?

1. He is a 1 percenter establishment Republican, not the kind of politico Tea Partiers support.
2. He is Mormon which makes evangelicals suspicious of him.
3. He is a stuffed shirt and pompous. 
4. He is a Wall Street venture capitalist, the type of person who got the country into the financial mess and the TARP 1 bailout. 
5. He has shifted his political positions over the years, which makes him suspect with GOP ideologues.
