Morning Joe: David Axelrod Agrees To Shave Mustache If His Epilepsy Drive Raises $1 Million

David Axelrod made a mustache bet, on Morning Joe with Joe Scarborough.  Finally, a bipartisan deal!  Subscribe to the Rightardia feed: http://feeds.feedburner.com/blogspot/UFPYA Creative Commons License Rightardia by Rightard Whitey of Rightardia is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 Unported License. Morning Joe at Fenway Park in Boston talks about Mittens 'people skills'

Mitt Romney - The Shake-N-Fake Candidate

Mika Brezenski was asking politicians in Boston what they thought about Mittens when he was the governor.

The show featured: Mike Barnicle, Doris Kearns Goodwin, Sam Stein, Richard Haass, Peter Gammons, Elizabeth Warren, Mayor Tom Menino, Fmr. Rep. Bill Delahunt, State Sen. Sonia Chang-Diaz, Sen. Scott Brown, Sen. John Kerry, Rep. Ed Markey, Sen. John Thune, Bud Selig, and Larry Lucchino

Some of the panelists described Mittens as cool and calculating. Other terms were "distant" and "hard to know."

The panelists talked about a book called the "Real Romney" which the panelists agree gave an accurate portrayal of Mittens.

We looked at on of the top reviews of the Real Romney book at Amazon.com. This is what one reviewer said:

Almost all politicians know that to survive and be successful in such a position, you need to know the other side and work towards compromise. That wasn't Romney. He didn't want to know the other side, and he acted as though he were the CEO of the State. He seemed to forget that there was a legislature that he had to work with, and by many accounts, he got little accomplished in his time in the State House for that very reason. In addition, he had a history of being one sided that was beginning to catch up with him near the end of his term. This is also the Romney that many people saw in Salt Lake City when he worked to get the Olympic Games back on track.

Joe Scarborough tried to change the subject suggesting Obama had the same problems relating to people.

Really?

The panelists said that Romney signed the bill that gave health care to 98 per cent of residents of the state and that this program is doing well. They chastised the former governor for walking away from the program.

If you look at Romney's term as governor, he was not a success and left office with a 30 per cent favorability rating. Accordingly, he was not able to run for reelection.

If you are on the the fence about the presidential race, check out the Wikipedia article at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mitt_romney

In particular, read the section Tenure, 2003–2007. You may also want to click on the footnote annotations in the article which take you to the sources for the Wikipedia article.

Essentially Mittens vetoed 844 pieces of legislation, with more than 700 overridden according to Conservapedia.

Mittens even vetoed a minimum wage bill and eventually even alienated Republican state senators. Most of his vetoes were overturned.  He is a my way of the highway leader who lack people skills.

If Mittens manages to win the election, he would likely be a one term president.

Intrade: Mittens will take Florida and Nevada primaries

“Morning Joe” host Joe Scarborough warned not to count Newt out.

Scarborough wrote that “only three species destined to survive a nuclear holocaust will be cockroaches, Cher and Newton Leroy Gingrich." The quote refers to the sustainability of Gingrich’s campaign.

MSNBC: Scarborough says Palin must be stopped

CNN Political Ticker - CNN.com Blogs
By: CNN Ticker Producer Alexander Mooney
(CNN) – Joe Scarborough, the MSNBC host and former conservative congressman from Florida, says its time for members of his party to get off the sidelines and express their true feelings about Sarah Palin.

Republicans have a problem. The most-talked-about figure in the GOP is a reality show star who cannot be elected," Scarborough writes in a column for Politico out Tuesday. And yet the same leaders who fret that Sarah Palin could devastate their party in 2012 are too scared to say in public what they all complain about in private.

What man or mouse with a fully functioning human brain and a résumé as thin as Palin's would flirt with a presidential run? It makes the political biography of Barack Obama look more like Winston Churchill's," writes Scarborough, later adding that Palin is pursuing a "dopey dream."

Perhaps her anger was understandable," a sarcastic Scarborough says. "After all, these disconnected "blue bloods" had nothing in their backgrounds that could ever make them understand "real America" like a former governor from Alaska who quit in the middle of her first term and then got rich.

I suppose Palin's harsh dismissal of this great man is more understandable after one reads her biography and realizes that, like Bush, she accomplished a great deal in her early 20s.

Who wouldn't agree that finishing third in the Miss Alaska beauty contest is every bit as treacherous as risking your life in military combat?" continued Scarborough, in reference to the elder Bush's tenure as combat pilot in World War II.

Rightardia is no fan of Joe Scarborough. He is right. Palin is a lippy lightweight with a personality disorder. Democrats hope she does get the GOP nomination. Bring it on!

Joe Scarborough: Thank You, Mr. President

Joe Scarborough
Posted: October 2, 2009 02:47 PM

Joe Scarborough is host of MSNBC's Morning Joe and former member of Congress.

Count me as one conservative who is disappointed that President Obama's hometown will not be hosting the 2016 Olympic Games.

Chicago is a beautiful city that would have made a perfect backdrop for the Olympics. The President was right to fly to Copenhagen to try to land the games, not for the sake of his city, but for the good of his country.

The fact President Obama failed makes me respect him more for taking the chance, and the fact many right-wing figures opposed the President's mission shows just how narrow-minded partisanship makes us all.

For the better part of 20 years, a bitterness has infected our politics that has weakened our country.

We Republicans spent eight years trying to delegitimize Bill Clinton.
Democrats spent the next eight years doing the same to George W. Bush.
Now that a Democrat is in the Oval Office again, it is the GOP who is trying to delegitimize a sitting president.

When I try to talk to Republicans about the need to break this cycle of viciousness, some cite the chapter and verse of every hateful left wing attack against George W. Bush.

Whenever I attempt to have a conversation with some Democrats about the need for us respect our president-- whether he be an Obama or a Bush-- I am told that Bush deserved whatever he got because he was a lying war criminal who hated the Constitution and loved torturing people.

Fortunately, there are a growing number of Americans who believe we cannot continue going on this way.

Scarborough makes some valid points, but there were substantial differences between Clinton and Bush.  Bill Clinton had the gray matter to be president. The same can not be said for his successor. Bush started his presidency by saying the haves and have mores were his base. Bush left office with a 20 per cent approval rating and the US economy in shambles. I don't think the Democrats had the power to talk him down in the twenties. Much of the criticism of Bush was deserved.

Joe Scarborough Is Shocked and Awed by Single-Payer Logic

Rep. Anthony Weiner (D-NY) had done an excellent job of explaining the public option is a very matter of fact way.  This interview may help the undecided about public health care.

I don't think the progressives are going take a another bitch slap form the Blue Dogs. There are 100 Democrats who support the public option and only 50 Blue Dogs who support the half-baked co-ops that the health care corporations have run over in the past.

The Nation -- Something rather remarkable happened on Tuesday's Morning Joe. Rep. Anthony Weiner of New York pointed out that the health insurance industry has no clothes, and Joe Scarborough, after first trying to spin some gossamer threads, broke down and said, By God, you're right, this emperor is a naked money-making machine!

Joe did seem to finally get that America has granted insurance companies the right to create bottlenecks in the financing of healthcare in order to extract profits out of the suffering of ordinary people--without providing  healthcare services.

"Why are we paying profits for insurance companies?" Weiner asked Scarborough. "Why are we paying overhead for insurance companies? Why," he asked, bringing it all home, "are we paying for their TV commercials?"

Weiner, who recently warned that President Obama could lose as many as 100 votes on a health bill if a public option is not included, really wants single payer--Medicare for all Americans is his goal. What a crazy, way-out, reckless notion, Joe went into their encounter believing. But Weiner asked some simple, direct questions that no politician has managed to pose:

What is an insurance company? They don't do a single check-up. They don't do a single exam, they don't perform an operation. Medicare has a 4 percent overhead rate. The real question is why do we have a private plan?

"It sounds like you're saying you think there is no need for us to have private insurance in healthcare," Joe asked at one point.

Weiner replied: "I've asked you three times. What is their value? What are they bringing to the deal?"

Scraping the bottom of a seemingly bottomless pit of spin, Joe is repeatedly left speechless, "stunned" and "astounded," he said, by the questions themselves.

Indeed, when confronted with unfettered capitalism's massive failures, the right usually has nothing to say. The "free market" is supposed to eternally grow, not crash under its own greed.

But unlike, say, Lou Dobbs, who began dobbering when confronted with similarly direct argument for single-payer, Joe was able to take a deep breath and return from a break with his eyes opened.

He even repeated Weiner's points clearly: The goverment would take over only the "paying mechanism" of healthcare, not the doctors or their medical decisions themselves.

His ears perked up every time Weiner mentioned that the nonprofit Medicare spends 4 percent on overhead, while private insurers spend 20 to 30 percent.

And Joe, who has been criticizing mob rule at town halls, seemed to appreciate the way Weiner counters the fear mongering over Medicare.

After decades of railing against the program's wasteful, "runaway" spending, Republicans have done a 180 and are now trying to scare seniors that the Democrats' proposed Medicare cuts will come directly from their medical care and not, as is actually proposed, from wasteful, stupid practices in the system.

Weiner has described how people have been put into a $700-a-night hospital bed when all they really need, and often prefer, is a visit by a homecare attendant.

Maybe the real turning point came when Weiner asked, "How does Wal-mart offer $4 prescriptions?" Joe and co-host Mika Brzezinski looked as if they'd been thwacked by a hardback copy of Atlas Shrugged, and sat back to let the congressman explain it all to them:

They go to the pharmaceutical companies and say, "Listen, we have a giant buying pool here. You're going to give us a great deal."

Who's bigger than Wal-Mart? We are, the taxpayers. Do we do that? No. Because we have outsourced this to insurance companies who don't have necessarily as much incentive to keep those costs down because, frankly, they are getting a piece of the action.

Joe Scarborough for president?

Scarboorugh has been controversial on the Joe Scarboroguh show and  demeaning toward his lovely co-host , Mika Brzezinski.

Good look with the female vote, Joe.

Some of our favorite Smokin' Joe quotes;

"Few serious political commentators would ever dare suggest that a Democratic-run Congress would spend less money that Republicans...But most Democrats don't get elected to the White House or Congress by promising to cut spending and taxes while balancing the budget. The fact that Republicans do make this promise every two years makes their bankrupting of America all the more offensive."

"When comparing its fiscal record to that of the Clinton administration, George W. Bush's White House loses in a landslide. This assessment comes from a former congressman whose animosity for Bill Clinton was so deep that when voters asked why I was running for office I would simply answer "Bill Clinton".

"We (the freshman class of 94) wanted to abolish the Department of Education, the Department of Energy, the Commerce Department, and the Department for Housing and Urban Development. Some even wanted to get the United Nations out of the United States, tear down the building, and salt the earth to ensure no diplomat could ever live there again. I supported all such proposals and more just for the sake of consistency."

Joe Scarborough shills with Peggy Noonan for the GOP this morning

I turned on the Morning Joe this morning and there was Joe Scarborough shilling for the GOP for Peggy Noonan, a former Republican speech writer.

Scarborough was pointing out how badly the nation needs a Republican Congress to even the Obama presidnecy out. He pointed out how the Democratic Congress helped moderate Bush.

Yes, Bush had to deal with a Democratic Congress in the last two years of his presidnecy, a fact that Scarbporogh failed to mention. Yesterday, Rightardia published data from the Gallup Organization that indicated the both Republican and independent Blue Dog Democrats are very unpopular and are dragging the Congressional approval rating down.

The Gallup data would indicate a GOP comeback in 2010 is unlikely.  Most Americans have not forgotten about the mess the GOp created on Wall street and in the Middle East. The Republicans also fell flat on their asses during Hurricane Kartrina.

America needs a Republican Congress like it needs another financial melt down. Not only no, but hell no!

Morning Joe discusses Henry Louis Gates

One of the more interesting discussions of the Henry Louis Gate's Jr's arrest. Joe Scarborough likes to paint Mika Brzezinski as liberal, but some of her views are certainly center-right.
