2011 White House Easter Egg Roll is one month away

Posted by Ellie Schafer on March 29, 2011 at 6:11 PM EDT

The White House Easter Egg Roll is now less than one month away! Each week brings new exciting information and opportunities related to this year’s event.

On Monday, the official 2011 White House Easter Egg Roll logo and souvenir eggs were announced.

The logo features a jumping Easter Bunny, representing this year’s theme Get Up and Go!, in support of the First Lady’s Let’s Move! initiative to raise a healthier generation of kids.

This year’s eggs come in the pastel colors purple, pink, green, and yellow. The eggs are handmade in the United States from wood that is harvested using strict environmentally friendly practices. Each egg will feature a stamp of the logo, and the signatures of both the President and First Lady. The souvenir eggs can be purchased online through the National Parks Foundation.

Finally, there are only 5 days left to enter the 2011 White House Easter Egg Roll Poster Contest.

This contest is open to local Elementary and Middle School students in Maryland, Virginia, and the District of Columbia. The winning artist will have the opportunity to bring their whole class to this year’s Easter Egg Roll. The submission deadline is Monday, April 4th at 11:59 pm EDT. You can learn more about the contest here.

Here’s an example of just one of the many great submissions we’ve received so far:

The Easter Egg Roll has been an important White House tradition for over one-hundred and twenty years, and has grown to become the largest event held at the White House each year.

This year’s Egg Roll will be attended by visitors from every corner of the United States, who will travel great distances for their visit to the People’s House.

Bringing members of the public in for the Easter Egg Roll is just one important way that we’re working to make this the most open and accessible White House ever.

26 days and counting! Time to start getting excited!

Annual Valentine's Day Stoning Of Happy Couple Held

It's nice to see an event conducted like The Founders did it. Put people in stocks , stone adulterers or make an adulteress wear the letter  "A."

The 19th Century was the good old days, wasn't it.

Texas pastor starts phony "war on Christmas" web site

(Dec. 23) Texas pastor Dr. Robert Jeffress created a website to list the businesses that he believes 'nicely' wish customers a 'Merry Christmas' or are 'naughty' for promoting 'happy holidays'.

Fox News' Gretchen Carlson started the phony 'war on Christmas" theme. As long as most of the Rightardia staff can remember, it was polite to refer to the Christmas season as the holiday season to be inclusive of all Americans, not just the Christian community.

We have heard about a few atheist billboards, but we think the 'war of Christmas' is really about Christian 'poltical correctness.

In Texas, the pastor's 'nice list' is 12-pages and the "naughty list" is two."

Apparently someone is losing the war on Christmas, but were not certain who that is.

Israeli Christmas tree in Haifa

RussiaToday | December 14, 2010

Residents of the northern Israeli city of Haifa may have to wait for trees to grow back after thousands were burnt in Israel's worst and deadliest forest fire.

Meanwhile, a local industrial designer, with the help of citizens who recycle their trash, has built a Christmas tree made of more than 5,000 plastic bottles.

The artist, Hadas Itzcovitch, spent a month building the tree with her family. They collected some 6,000 bottles from around the city, rejecting 1,000 because they wanted the tree to be advertisement-free.

Bottle caps were then used to fasten the tree together. Haifa is a mixed Jewish-Arab city with many Christian residents.

Hanukkah is also romanized as Chanukah or Chanuka), also known as the Festival of Lights is an eight-day Jewish holiday commemorating the rededication of the Holy Temple (the Second Temple) in Jerusalem at the time of the Maccabean Revolt of the 2nd century BCE.

Hanukkah is observed for eight nights and days, starting on the 25th day of Kislev according to the Hebrew calendar, which may occur at any time from late November to late December in the Gregorian calendar.

Hanukkah is considered a minor Jewish holiday. It may be popular because is often coincides with the Christmas holiday. Hanukkah usually heralds the start of the holiday season.

ONN: Nation's wealthy cruelly deprived of the meaning of Christmas

Report: Nation’s Wealthy Cruelly Deprived Of True Meaning Of Christmas

Of course, some of the affluent do understand how others live. Our technical editor, Wirehead, has a son works for a wealthy man who started a foundation to remember his daughter who died when she was eight years old.

This man helps children who have serious health problems. He asked one child what he would like for Christmas. The boy said all he wanted was a box of macaroni and cheese. That made quite an impression on the wealthy man and Wirehead's son.

Recently one of our editors went to a large discount stores and bough six large boxes of mac and cheese and didn't think twice about it. It is amazing what some people with even modest incomes sometimes take for granted.

Hunger is still a big problem in the US. President Obama was wise to increase Food Stamp payments. It has really helped a lot of people.

Rightardia suspects the boy will get several boxes of mac and cheese and perhaps some other nice gifts for Christmas. Have a happy holiday.
