Mediaite: DSCC Chair Sen. Bob Menendez: Working With GOP Like ‘Negotiating With Terrorists’
Do you allow yourself to be held hostage and get something done for the sake of getting something done, when in fact it might be perverse in its ultimate results? It’s almost like the question of do you negotiate with terrorists.

Huffington Post: Now is not the time for bipartisanship
Howard Fineman
Senior Political Editor, The Huffington Post
There were some, including some in the media, who listened to President Obama's account of this week's meeting with Republicans and concluded that there was hope for a surprisingly bipartisan conclusion to the lame duck Congress.Posted: December 1, 2010 01:37 PM
My questions are: What planet do he and they think they are on? And have they paid any attention to Sen. Mitch McConnell?
The president emerged from the meeting yesterday to say, hopefully, that he had suggested that they work together not just on taxes and spending, but on the other issues pending, including an extension of unemployment insurance.
But at that very moment McConnell and the rest of the GOP Senate leadership were beginning work on a plan to force the Senate to do just the opposite: a unified GOP threat to filibuster debate on anything but taxes and spending.
Republicans are energized and out for blood. And, like all tough politicians, when they sense weakness and confusion on the other side, they are emboldened to press harder.
On the Hill yesterday, GOP aides privately could barely contain their contempt -- and their amusement -- at the president's declaration of a dawn of bipartisan optimism.
Rightardia agrees. The Republicans only talk about bipartisanship when they control Washington. The GOP has used the Club for Growth to weed out GOP moderates and in the last election the GOP also defeated more than 30 Blue Dog Democrats. in the 2010 elections. The two parties are highly polarized.
Now is the time to figure out how to get things done in view of the circumstances. Talking about 'pie in the sky bipartisanship is a waste of time.

Democrats have grown cojones
By Kevin G. Hall McClatchy Newspapers Published: Wednesday, April 14, 2010 at 11:02 p.m. Last Modified: Wednesday, April 14, 2010 at 11:02 p.m.
WASHINGTON | The architect of sweeping legislation that would revamp financial regulation took the Senate floor on Wednesday to accuse the Senate Republican leader of lying about the bill and being a Wall Street's shill.
Senate Banking Committee Chairman Christopher Dodd, D-Conn., delivered a blistering, 20-minute speech that included the revelation of a political talking points memo from a Republican strategist. the talking points were virtually verbatim to the criticism voiced Tuesday by Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky.
McConnell had falsely accused Dodd of drafting partisan legislation, even though the Banking Committee chairman has worked for roughly half a year with key Senate Republicans and incorporated many of their ideas into his bill.
McConnell also said the bill continues controversial bank bailouts, but it doesn't.
"It's a naked political strategy," thundered a visibly upset Dodd.
Rightardia comment: Screw bipartisanship. The GOP is simply trying to undermine the Obama administration. It's time to twist some arms and kick some conservative ass.

Larry the cable guy: Forget Bipartisanship, get'er done!
Rightardia comment: Is all the noise that the Astroturfers, Birthers, Deathers, and Tea Baggers really important? Not at all. The Democrats won the election.
Do we need Republicans to pass a health care bill. Not at all. The Democrats have a huge majority in the House and the Senate. If the right wing doesn't like public health care, let them eat cake.
Obama's political organization, 'Organizing for America,' is now active and it has a clear strategy. The Democrats need to get the party started. Intrade indicates the liklihood of getting the America's Affordable health care Act of 2009 bill passed is low. Since the congressional break, the probability of success has dropped at least 10 points.
Where are the Affordable Health Care bumper stickers? It's now or never. We need to get 'er done!
As lawmakers return from their summer break, it may be time for Democrats to scrap grand, bipartisan plans and nail down a new, focused message to isolate Republicans and get a health-care reform bill passed, WSJ's Jonathan Weisman reports.
