10 reasons why public health care is a 'no brainer'

1. There will be no more pre-existing conditions.

2. You won't have to declare bankruptcy to be relieved of your medical bills.

3. It will cost about half of what you are presently paying.

4. You will have choice between public and private health care.

5. No country that has approved public health care has returned to a private system.

6. You will not lose your health care when you lose your job.

7. All Americans will have health coverage instead of 80 per cent. You will not have to subsidize those on Medicaid any more.

8. The public health care system will improve medical services in the US. The US is ranked 37th by the World health Organization and is dead last of the 23 industrial nations.

9. Health care decisions will no longer be held hostage by corporate profits. The government will be an honest broker.

10. Co-pays will be eliminated or significantly reduced. It won't cost a family $3,000 when they have a child.

Weekly Address: Health Care Reform Cannot Wait

FRI, JULY 17, 11:59 PM EST
Posted by Jesse Lee

The President calls on Congress to seize this opportunity – one that may not come again for decades – and finally pass health care reform: "It’s about every family unable to keep up with soaring out of pocket costs and premiums rising three times faster than wages. Every worker afraid of losing health insurance if they lose their job, or change jobs. Everyone who’s worried that they may not be able to get insurance or change insurance if someone in their family has a pre-existing condition..."
