Is Mittens an old style conservative?

This is a quote from Romney's 2010 book, No Apologies.

England is just a small island. Its roads and houses are small. With few exceptions, it doesn't make things that people in the rest of the world want to buy. And if it hadn't been separated from the continent by water, it almost certainly would have been lost to Hitler's ambitions. Yet only two lifetimes ago, Britain ruled the largest and wealthiest empire in the history of humankind. Britain controlled a quarter of the earth's land and a quarter of the earth's population.

Note: England is one of the countries in the United Kingdom that includes Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. England is not an island.

Mitt's view sounds a lot like the pre-WW2 views of isolationist Republicans like Charles Lindbergh who was pro-German and wanted to keep the US out of World War 2.

Lindbergh had said:

[…] It seemed to me essential to France and England, and even to America, that Germany be maintained as a bulwark against the Soviet Union.

Romney is staritng to sound like an old style depression ear conservative who never got over the rise of the Democratic Party and FDR.

The quote on the UK and Mittens views that Russia is geo-political enemy number one suggest foreign policy views that are 20- to 60 years out of date.
