Why US policy in the Middle East needs to be changed

With over 1.5 billion followers or over 22% of earth's population as of 2009, Islam is the second-largest and one of the fastest-growing religions in the world.

The population of Israel in 2010 is 7,624,600.

The bottom line is that AIPAC (American Israeli PAC), a de facto agent for a foreign government, has a stranglehold on Congress, with the result that US policy towards Israel is not debated there, even though that policy has important consequences for the entire world. In other words, one of the three main branches of the government is firmly committed to supporting Israel.  (John Mearsheimer and Stephen Walt).
