Governor Rick Scott’s Weekly Radio Address
As the media release states, Governor Scott’s work to bring jobs to Florida by eliminating job-killing regulation, holding government accountable and making sure Florida has the best educated workforce.
Scott has always been focused on the Florida ports and international trade. Between cargo and cruse operation, Port Everglades (Ft. Lauderdale) generate about 10,000 jobs which translates into about $400,000 of personal income. There are more cargo than cruise jobs.
Keep in mind that many cruise line jobs are minimum wage or less because the cruse ships are not registered in the US. However, the cargo and cruise industry marketeers use a an 11x factor to claim these shipping jobs generate nearly 120,000 in related user jobs.
Likewide state revenues from these cargo and cruise industries are less than $125,000 but direct, indirect and induced related user taxes brings the state's revenues to $400,000.
It's all how you spin that bottle!
