The last World War 1 veteran dies

World War 1 was a terrible war. Aircraft and tanks were introduced into combat and the first weapon of mass destruction was used: poison gas.

General John J. Pershing. the leader of the American Expeditioanary Forces,   started an attack against German postions on Nov. 1, 1918. The Germans were incredulous because they knew an amistice was days away.

Pershing was the only Allied commander who opposed the armistice, urging continued pressure until the Germans surrendered unconditionally.

Pershing denied he sacrifice American lives needlessly with the huge losses of American troops on Armistice Day morning.

Rightardia salutes those World War 1 veterans who served and died for their country. War is a living hell.
