The likelihood of anything but token tax cuts is slim. Florida has been laying off teachers, police and fire fighters for the past decade to balance the budget. The class size amendment passed in 2002 also kicks in this year.
The GOP solution was to put their heads in the sand and try to repeal the class size amendment This was after they changed the Florida constitution to require a 60 per supermajority in plebiscites. They were not successful.
The governor and legislature need to "man up" and implement the class size reduction amendment. It is the will of the people.
Rightardia doesn't want to hear any whining or snivelling because Tallahassee knew this was coming eight years ago. Florida has no state income tax and we thought Scott's tax cutting plans were bogus from the gitgo.
Scott also got "bitch slapped" by three cabinet members when he tried to take control of the regulations of the CFO, the attorney general and agricultural offices. His cabinet members rightfully told him to 'go fish.'
Scott would like to be the dictator of Florida but the Constitution provides for a separation of powers even within the executive branch. Will Scott be able to adapt to a democratic institution like government? We doubt it.
