Texas ready to go "tango uniform"

Rick Perry disputed that Texas was facing a huge budget shortfall in the last election. .

Houston Mayor Bill White, his opponent, said that Texas’ deficit may be twice large as what Perry was estimating.

Perry said that White should run for the the comptroller position instead of governor.

The Comptroller office released its report which stated:

Texas is expected to collect $72.2 billion in taxes, fees and other general revenue during the 2012-13 budget, down from the $87 billion used in the current two-year budget, Comptroller Susan Combs announced Monday. That puts the shortfall at $27 billion given that maintaining services would run $99 billion for biennium.
Texas may, in fact, drop the Texas Medicaid program to balance the budget.
