Sarah Palin referred to “blood libel” in a speech she recently gave that was poorly received.
David Frum, a conservative speech writer, said “She’s (Palin) like a big melting iceberg in warm water, and I think a big chunk of ice just slipped off the side.”
A "blood libel" which refers to the anti-Semitic slur from the Middle Ages that Jews killed Christian children to use their blood to make matzoh for Passover.
Rightardia thinks that the Palin misunderstood what this term meant. Some other progressive commentators think the use of term was calculated. It adds injury to insult since Gabrielle Giffords is a Jewish-American.
