Leadership change in North Korea?

(Sept. 27) North Korean leader Kim Jong Il promoted his youngest son to the rank of general in the Korean People's Army, the state news agency reported early Tuesday. This the clearest signal yet that the 20-something is on track to succeed his father.

The North Korean leader Kim Jong-il suffered a stroke last August. A South Korean cable television network also reported the DPRK leader has “life-threatening” pancreatic cancer and is dying.

Very little is known about Swiss-educated Kim Jong-un. He is thought to be in his mid-20s.

Monday was the first time that Kim Jong-un had been mentioned in public by North Korean state media.

A personality cult has been built up around the family. Kim Jong-il is known as "dear leader."

Rightardia wonders why communists leaders think anyone takes them seriously when they appoint relatives as successors.
