The Red State Mythos--States ranked by median household income

 top 20 states in median household income 

Rightardia has talked about this is several articles. The right talks about food stamps, unemployment compensation and welfare. The fact is that most of the states that use food stamps, draw unemployment and have people on welfare are in the Red States. This is what eliminating regulation and unions results in.

Where are the fatest people in the US: the South. Where do most of the people live in the US who don't pay taxes? Why it is the Southland again.

Where are the donor states: the states that pay in more income tax than they take from the federal trough? That would be the NorthEast and left coast.

In fact, Rightardia pointed out that many of the fisherman on the gulf coast didn't even file taxes and thus were unable to be compensated by BP.

Where are the recipient states that lap up that federal manna and milk: the South? In fact, most of the defense bases in the US are in the Red states and these military bases pump in billions to the local economies.
