After defending Dr. Laura, Palin will help Glenn Beck "reclaim the civil rights movement"

Glen Beck is promoting his upcoming "Restoring Honor" rally that falls on the anniversary of Martin Luther King Jr.'s "I Have a Dream" speech - and chalking up said coincidence to "divine providence."
Beck has repeatedly invoked the memory of the civil rights movement.
According to Beck, the rally will "reclaim the civil rights movement" because "Martin Luther King's dream" has "been distorted" and "massively perverted" by progressives.
Beck's shameless co-opting of King's legacy for his own benefit is especially appalling in light of his long history of race-baiting. Beck has even called President Obama a "racist."
Joining Beck at the rally next weekend will be fellow Fox News employee Sarah Palin, whose presence at the rally is complicated by her defense of Dr. Laura's racially charged rant.
Last night Palin told Dr. Laura "don't retreat....reload!" She also nonsensically chalked up attacks on Dr. Laura to an infringement on her "1st Amend.rights" by "Constitutional obstructionists."
Is hate speech protected by the first amendment? Rightardia doesn't think so. Progressive have been the biggest proponents of minority rights. We don't think Dr. King would be pleased with Beck's comments that his dream has been massively perverted by progressives.

Interesting post. And I think you pose a legitimate question.
From what I understand MLK was much more pro-Christian and pro-Republican than his heirs.
He was a Christian theologian, but hardly Republican.
See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Martin_Luther_King,_Jr.
BTW why are you using such a horrible moniker?
"Is hate speech protected by the first amendment? Rightardia doesn't think so."
I'm not sure if it is or isn't. I'm leaning towards "is". I feel like people should generally be allowed to say anything they want, even if it's hateful. Hell, practically every other thing that comes out of the extreme Right's mouths these days is hateful. I say let's keep giving them rope, maybe eventually they'll hang themselves. (I guess you could call that hate speech.)
Anyway, the point is that it really doesn't apply in this case in the first place. Dr. Laura's first amendment rights aren't being trampled at all. It's not like the government is punishing her for her remarks in any way. It has nothing to do with freedom of speech. As usual, Sarah Palin isn't making any sense.
I'm seriously starting to wonder if there is something wrong with that woman. I mean like an actual medical condition.
As a former student of journalism, I know there are free speech limits. You can be charged with libel or defamation of character in this business.
Glenn Beck has come perilously close to sedition on his show. Writing a blog is not about saying anything you would like to say, it's about saying it safely.
