Rightardia editorial: Republicans are wimps

Even during the final Congressional debates on Sunday, GOP politicians wanted to 'start over." Then we heard threats about repealing the bill one amendment at a time. Now righties like Bill McCollum of Florida are crying that taxing people who do not buy health insurance is unconstitutional.

Of course, in Florida, if you don't purchase auto insurance and drive, you will be heavily fined or have your driver's license suspended.

The real issue of opting all Americans into health insurance is that it is cheaper if everyone pays into the health insurance kitty. Right now any American who has health insurance is paying an extra $1000 a year to cover Medicaid for people who go to the emergency room because they do not have medical insurance.

The Republicans have tried to break up Social Security for years by allowing some Americans to opt out which would weaken the overall program. The reality is that Social Security is a great deal for the affluent because of the $108,500 cap. Social Security is one of the worst regressive taxes foisted on the middle class.

Bottom line on health care: Don't look at a gift horse in the mouth. Americans will be better off without preexisting conditions and lifetime insurance caps. Children in school will now have health insurance until they are 26.

Bill Clinton was right that the health care act needed to be passed and the details can be sorted out over time. The bill is not perfect and for that matter few laws are. it is also clear that the bill is more democratic and comprehensive than the failed Hillarycare program that wanted to turn the US medical care system into a giant HMO.

The Republicans were given numerous opportunities to forge a bipartisan bill but preferred to stonewall health care. The Republicans suffered a historic defeat and were the big losers in the health care battle. They only have themselves to blame.

What did you expect form a bunch of childish wimps? The GOP has been hijacked by extremists, nut jobs and the under educated that are represented by politicians like Sarah Palin.
