Conservatives loves the Declaration of Independence (DoI) because it refers to the creator and has some religious content. However, the DoI was written before the US became a nation and is a historical document that has no legal significance.
You would think the House Minority leader would not confuse the Constitution with the DoI. Rightardia has long contended that conservatives have a poor understanding of US history.
The Declaration of Independence states:
We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.
