I have seen the sort of problem with seniors who have never had children. Most live in a conservative alternative reality and are more focused on their pets than people. I frequently drive past a very large retirement community and know many of the people who live have have had kids. But many of the others have not.
Some of the geezer bumper stickers I have seen include:

My Yorky is smarter than your honor student.
Jay Leno has talked about these people on the Leno show. One of their eccentricities is to dress their animals in clothing. Recently I walked into a discount store and there was a rack of dog clothing. How ridiculous and superfluous has American society become?
Leno like myself really objects to people dressing animals in clothing. I cannot imagine any animal that would want to be dressed by its owner.
Dog Cabin Republicans
Many years ago I sat next to a dog person. She talked about her dogs all day long and disparaged her husband. Her husband developed a serious medical condition and all she could say was that she hoping he would die. Apparently she held her dogs in higher regard than her husband.
It does not surprise me that someone like Rush Limbaugh is producing public service announcements for the National Humane Society.
Rush Limbaugh, who has thrice divorced and has no children, has a beloved animal named Punkin and is supportive of animal welfare causes. He supports the Humane Society's anti-dogfighting campaign, which is the focus of one of the recorded spots. In the video, he discusses the conservative connection between religion and animals, reaching out to religious communities to promote the "faithful stewardship of animals."
This is not surprising at all because many conservatives hold their dogs and cats with higher regard than people. Most of the childless couples I have met are also Republican.
There are some mean people out there that are worse than any Scooby Do villain. Many never had children and that is probably a good thing. They are intolerant of kids.
