Huck wants [Romney] make this challenge about his tax returns:
I’ll release my tax returns when Barack Obama releases his college transcripts and the copy of his admission records to show whether he got any loans as a foreign student. When he releases that, talk to me about my tax returns.
Romney didn't take this silly advice and will release his tax returns next week. Romney isn't a 1 percenter, he is a .001 per center.
Huck had genuine human appeal unlike some of the plastic men like Gingrich and Romney who are still in the race.
But he would have trouble in the Blue States and cities with large union populations. Huckabee resonated well with evangelicals. tea partiers and Southerners.
However, his tax ideas like his "fair tax" would be detrimental to the middle class. His fair tax was simply a regressive flat income tax that would mainly benefit the most affluent Americans.
Can any of the GOP candidates beat Obama? Rightardia doubts it.
Huckabbe would undoubtedly would make an excellent vice-presidential candidate for the GOP.

In February, Mother Jones wrote to the office of Arkansas Gov. Mike Beebe seeking access to a variety of records concerning his predecessor's tenure, including Mike Huckabee's travel records, calendars, call logs, and emails.
Beebe's chief legal counsel, Tim Gauger, stated in a letter that the :
former Governor Huckabee did not leave behind any hard-copies of the types of documents you seek. Moreover, at that time, all of the computers used by former Governor Huckabee and his staff had already been removed from the office and, as we understand it, the hard-drives in those computers had already been 'cleaned' and physically destroyed.
....What do the Huckabee files hold? The records could provide details on many unsettled controversies involving a governor that faced at least 15 ethics complaints
his failure to report gifts and outside income
his alleged use of state funds and resources for political and personal purposes,
the pardon of a convicted murderer and rapist who went on to kill again once released.
Rightardia doubts that all of the records were destroyed. There would be email and other documents on the state of Arkansas' servers. This data is backed up on a daily basis.

Does Huckabee descend to the lowest common conservative denominator to appeal to the Tea Party birthers and ditto heads?

In Gallup polls since 1952, Republican Party nomination races always featured a clear front-runner at this stage of the campaign, and in almost all cases, that front-runner ultimately won the nomination.

We think Palin has no chance at all in defeating Obama and hope Huckabee tries to run on his "fair tax" again which is fair if you are a millionaire or billionaire.

Mike Huckabee got back on the family values soap box and called out Natlie Portman for being single and pregnant. Huckabee said nothing when a Christian woman, Bristol Palin, gave birth out of wedlock.
To make matters worse, Portman is Jewish. We think Christian clergymen would be wise to restrict their comments to people in their own community.
Rightardia was hoping for Sarah Palin. Dems would love to clobber this small town loud-mouthed know-it-all!
The civil war between the country club Republican establishment the dittohead Tea Baggers will complicate matters for the GOP. Some state Tea Parties will run third party candidates and other Tea Partiers will simply not vote in the next election.
The billionaires who originally bank rolled the Tea Party and unleashed the dogs, realized this was a short term benefit that had negative long term outcomes for the GOP. So the Tea Party now has to raise its own funds.

Palin and Gingrich would not do well against Obama, and it is possible Romney may not run according to Intrade. That leaves Pastor Huckabee. Haley Barbour may also enter the presidential race.

Mike Huckabee warned Monday in Israel that the situation in Egypt--
could threaten the world and all those who seek peace and security
The real threat to Israelis not the bomb but the people behind it, not weapons but the madmen behind them.
Huckabee was taking part in a special session of the Knesset Committee for Immigration, Absorption and Diaspora Affairs as part of his trip, This is his 15thtrip to Israel.
Huckabee also said that "good Israeli-U.S. relations are not just an option." Huckabee believes a strong relationship with Israel is an "obligation of all of us in the American government."
Rightardia doesn't agree.
We see Israel as an albatross around the neck of US foreign policy. We blame Israel more than we do Palestine for the failure of peace in the middle east. Both the US and the Palestinian Authority has made Israel offers its government should not have refused.
If the Camp David Accords go up in smoke, Israel has only itself to blame.
We think Huckabees's Bible based diplomacy is misguided and therefore he would be a bad choice as president.

Former Arkansas first lady Janet Huckabee paid a $100 fee in Pulaski County District Court yesterday and received a "reserve judgment" ruling from Judge Wayne Gruber, with an agreement that charges of careless and prohibited driving against her would be dismissed if Huckabee doesn't get into any more vehicular trouble for six months.
This is not the first story we have heard about Janet Huckabee that has raised the eyebrows of progressives.
The couple's covenant marriage indicates the obvious. Mike Huckabee has stated he would operate a Bible-based executive branch.

Could this be the end of Mike Huckabee's presidential aspirations? Rightardia beleives he would be a stronger candidate than Sarah Palin, but he would run into trouble in the North East and the left coast because of his right wing religious views.
Nor is our staff fooled by Huckabee's 'Fair Tax' which is another GOP Trojan Horse. The Fair Tax is a regressive tax that would disproportionately affect the middle class. The middle calss and the poor pay prorpitionally more of their income in taxes than the rich.

You might think the rich are taking a hosing, but all Limbaugh is pointing out is that the rich pay higher Income Taxes because Income Tax is a progressive tax. Of course, the rich also have far bigger incomes and much of their money is made through capital gains which is taxed at the 17 per cent rate. Limbaugh doens't mention the capital gains tax at all. George W. Bush suspended the other progressive tax in the the US, the Estate Tax.
Most American taxes such as sales tax, municipal taxes such as real estate are regressive. or example, the payroll tax
system (FICA), a 12.4% Social Security tax on wages up to $106,800(for
2009) and a 2.9% Medicare tax (a 15.3% total tax that is often split
between employee and employer). these taxes are regressive taxes
on income with no standard deduction or personal exemptions but in
effect is forced savings with returns to the payer in the form of
retirement benefits and health care.
Don't let the right confuse you on taxes. The middle class and the poor pay their fair share because most American taxes are regressive. The GOP says little about regressive taxes because they have less impact on the affluent.
Rightardia is sure that Mike Huckabee is hoping for the worst so Obama will lose the 2012 election.
Mike Huckabee joins the GOP diaper baby brigade
Former Arkansas governor and likely 2012 presidential contender Mike Huckabee already has strong words for his potential opponent.
Huckabee told an Orlando radio station he opposes holding the trial of 9/11 mastermind Khalid Sheik Mohammed in civilian court in New York City, and that if anything goes unexpectedly, Obama is likely to lose his office.
"God help us if they get off on a technicality because of the way the evidence was gathered," Huckabee said. "I would tell you not only is the Obama administration finished, I think the Democratic Party is finished."

One of the first rules they teach pilots is that during a crash landing you should not give up but keep flying your plane all the way to the ground. There may be things you can do, and even in the most hopeless of situations there may be little gifts - changes in the wind or the topography that can save your life.
Only one GOP pilot has been flying his plane toward that crash landing and the Barack Obama landslide re-election in 2012 and that has been Governor Mike Huckabee. And now, thanks to a change in the winds, he just might land safely after all. Yesterday’s election demonstrates that the GOP is not dead and when the electorate has even three more years to forget George W. Bush, they may just get sick of Obamanomics.
Sarah Palin threw away her chances and continues to do so daily, demonstrating to her most enthusiastic supporters that the Katie Couric interview may not be the fault of Katie Couric.
Mitt Romney all but announced that he was too important to waste on a run for the presidency unless he could be assured of that win. For months he has been privately telling friends that all of Obama’s spending will likely prompt an economic spike, and thus a Republican win in 2012 was unlikely.
Bobby Jindal has bowed out. And Tim Pawlenty must first pass through the evangelical gateway of Iowa, where his only hope of victory is if Hucakabee and Palin devour each other.
The latter is a very real possibility. Huckabee is a street fighter. And Palin will throw a punch first and talk about it later. The Iowa caucus could turn out to be as messy as the Russo-German front in World War Two, as the only two “born again” Christians duke it out.
The one left standing will likely get the nomination. If Huckabee wins - and he has already demonstrated that he will not give Sarah a free pass - then it will be hard to beat him in the South, where he almost pulled off an upset last time with the media arbitrarily writing him off.
Newt Gingrich was counting on being the FOX candidate, but the emerging story of his hypocrisy in attacking Clinton-Lewinsky while he was having his own affair is hanging over him like Chappaquiddick. Every day he must ask himself, “If I run, will that sword fall?”
Besides, Gingrich also hesitated - stopped flying his plane - and Huckabee slipped past him with his own FOX TV Show, debuting in the inglorious, lowly, awful, Saturday night slot. He was too nice, critics said. There was no conflict, he cannot be both a successful entertainer and a political candidate, one make audiences laugh and cry, and the other better not or he will lose elections.
But Huckabee did not forfeit his future for ratings and a paycheck, he kept flying his plane, he stayed nice and the audience came to him anyway, and now he not only has a successful television show, he is the front-runner for the GOP nomination for president in 2012.
Oh, how they would all like to relive the last twelve months. Keep flying that plane Mike. Anything can happen, including a safe landing.

Rightardia agrees that Huckabee would be a better candidate than Palin. Huckabee will do well in the South but he will flounder in the NorthEast, have mixed results in the Midwest and lose the election on the Left Coast. Huckabee would be wise to abandon his 'Fair Tax' that is primarily fair to the affluent.
If Palin is foolish enough to run in the primaries, we would expect her to lose. She has alienated many GOP insiders with her disloyalty to John McCain.
If Obama can get health care passed and unemployment under control, he should easily coast to victory. These are, of course, 'big ifs.'
Mike Huckabee, a weight-loss advocate, has gained weight recently due to a painful foot condition that has limited his ability to run. "I gotta drop 25 pounds," he told reporters at a breakfast in Washington, D.C., sponsored by the Christian Science Monitor. Huckabee is the author of "Quit Digging Your Grave With a Knife and Fork: A 12-Stop Program to End Bad Habits and Begin a Healthy Lifestyle."
Reporters noticed that Huckabee was looking quite a bit heavier than during his campaign heyday. The former Arkansas governor and likely 2012 Republican presidential candidate "passed on the scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage and home fries," said one reporter. Huckabee is leading GOP presidential contender in 2012 according to a recent Gallup Poll
Andrea Stone, senior Washington correspondent for AOL's recently launched news site, Sphere, reports that Huckabee, who has completed several marathons, told a group of reporters after the breakfast that he cut back on running because of plantar fasciitis on his feet. He said the pain comes on suddenly and is "a real nightmare."
"I still run, but not more than 3 miles at a time. . . not the 10-12 and more milers before. . . . I'll be back to full speed in a few months!" Huckabee said in an e-mail I received from his spokeswoman.
In 2003, Huckabee weighed more than 300 pounds and was diagnosed with Type II Diabetes. Motivated to get healthy, he lost over 100 pounds with diet and exercise. In 2005, Huckabee wrote his motivational book on healthy eating and exercise habits.

William Kristol's crystal ball hasn't worked well in the past. He was the man who was primarily responsible for getting Sarah Palin the VP slot in the 2008 presidential campaign. He greatly overestimated Palin's abilities as a national leader.
Beck and Limbaugh appeal to naive undereducated people. There are plenty of them in the US, but not enough to win an election. The Democrats would love to run against Sarah Palin is 2012, but that will never happen. GOP insiders would torpedo her after her dismal performance during the McCain campaign. Mike Huckabee would be crushed in the North East and Left Coast. His Fair tax is simply a Trojan for Supply Side economics.
That leaves Newt Gingrich. Rightardia has written several articles on Gingrich who was a divisive Speaker of the House. Gingrich had to resign as speaker due to misconduct and was married and having an affair with his present wife while he was bashing President Clinton on the Monica Lewinsky scandal.
Gingrich knows that his adulterous affairs will be a big issue with evangelicals and he has converted to Catholicism. He invokes God whenever he can in his speeches. This man is a hypocrite who should not be allowed in any elected office.
America doesn't need another president from the South, that's for sure!
In his Washington Post column Tuesday, William Kristol predicted that the "center of gravity" in the GOP going into 2012 will not be its leaders in Congress but rather "media personalities like Glenn Beck and Rush Limbaugh" (as well as Sarah Palin, Mike Huckabee, and Newt Gingrich).
But it's unlikely that the minority party in Congress will be the source of bold new conservative leadership over the next three years. Even if Republicans pick up the
House in 2010, the party's big ideas and themes for the 2012
presidential race will probably not emanate from Capitol Hill.
The center of gravity, I suspect, will instead lie with individuals such as Palin and Huckabee and Gingrich, media personalities like Glenn Beck and Rush Limbaugh, and activists at town
halls and tea parties.
Some will lament this -- but over the past year,as those voices have dominated, conservatism has done pretty well inthe body politic, and Republicans have narrowed the gap with Democrats
in test ballots.

Conservative media figures are attacking Democrats for trying to get political gain from the death of Senator Ted Kennedy. But on Thursday, it was one of their own -- former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee -- who went there.
The 2008 Republican presidential candidate suggested during his radio show, "The Huckabee Report," on Thursday that, under President Obama's health care plan, Kennedy would have been told to "go home to take pain pills and die" during his last year of life.
Only one GOP pilot has been flying his plane toward that crash landing and the Barack Obama landslide re-election in 2012 and that has been Governor Mike Huckabee. And now, thanks to a change in the winds, he just might land safely after all. Yesterday’s election demonstrates that the GOP is not dead and when the electorate has even three more years to forget George W. Bush, they may just get sick of Obamanomics.
