Think Progress poll: Most Republicans Still Believe That Iraq Had WMDs

A poll conducted by Dartmouth government professor Benjamin Valentino found that 63 percent of Republican respondents still believe that Iraq had weapons of mass destruction when the United States invaded Iraq in 2003, 


This assertion has been thoroughly debunked. In comparison, only 27 percent of independents and less than 15 percent of Democrats believed the misinformation.


This is proof positive that Republicans cannot be confused by the facts! 


Of course, Facts are NOT Arguable. Facts only have one answer; A fact either is or is not. Experts, authorities and scientists performing empirical studies are the source of most facts,

WASHINGTON -- These days, when we think of George W. Bush, we think mostly of what a horrible mess he made of the economy. But his even more tragic legacy is the loss of our moral authority, and the transformation of the United States of America from global champion of human rights into an outlaw nation.

History is likely to judge Bush most harshly for two things in particular: Launching a war against a country that had not attacked us, and approving the use of cruel and inhumane interrogation techniques.

And that's why the two most essential lies . . . in his new memoir are that he had a legitimate reason to invade Iraq, and that he had a legitimate reason to torture detainees.

Neither is remotely true. But Bush must figure that if he keeps making the case for himself -- particularly if it goes largely unrebutted by the traditional media, as it has thus far -- then perhaps he can blunt history's verdict.

It may even be working. Extrapolating from the response to the book, former vice president Dick Cheney on Tuesday told a crowd gathered for Bush's presidential library groundbreaking in Dallas that "judgments are a little more measured than they were" and that "history is coming around."

This is more BS from Dick Cheney. Bush ratings have not gone up and he is rated in the bottom 10 per cent of presidents in the last three presidential polls in Wikipedia. Bush's ratings will remain permanently dismal in the history books.

Even if Bush could be forgiven for the $ one trillion Iraq debacle, his domestic policies were equally as bad.. The US is just starting to come out of the great Bush recession that started in 2007.

WP: Final report on Iraqi WMDs

The Iraqi Survey Group has released its final report on weapons of mass destruction in Iraq, and they have concluded the following:

* There is no evidence any weapons of mass destruction were moved to Syria for safekeeping before the invasion of Iraq

* There is no evidence that Saddam Hussein tried to restart his weapons program after Gulf War I

* No stockpiles of WMD have been found in Iraq

U.S. investigators hunting for weapons of mass destruction in Iraq have found no evidence that such material was moved to Syria for safekeeping before the war, according to a final report of the investigation released yesterday.

Although Syria helped Iraq evade U.N.-imposed sanctions by shipping military and other products across its borders, the investigators "found no senior policy, program, or intelligence officials who admitted any direct knowledge of such movement of WMD."

Because of the insular nature of Saddam Hussein's government, however, the investigators were "unable to rule out unofficial movement of limited WMD-related materials."

The Iraq Survey Group's main findings -- that Hussein's Iraq did not possess chemical and biological weapons and had only aspirations for a nuclear program -- were made public in October in an interim report covering nearly 1,000 pages.

Yesterday's final report, published on the Government Printing Office's Web site ( http://www.gpo.gov/ ), incorporated those pages with minor editing and included 92 pages of addenda that tied up loose ends on Syria and other topics.

Rightrdia believes the Iraq War was not an intelligence failure, it was an intelligence conspiracy that was cooked up by neo-conservatives with the help of senior intelligence officer political appointees and high ranking military officers.


Retired Air Force General James Clapper has been nominated to replace Dennis Blair as the Director of National Intelligence (DNI). Clapper was part and parcel of the Bush administration's cooking of intelligence to "prove" Saddam Hussein's Iraq was in possession of weapons of mass destruction (WMD), according to senior U.S. intelligence officers. Bush thought he could frame his presidency around the Iraq War and believed his father was not reelected because he didn't take Baghdad. Next month US forces will be finally withdrawn from Iraq ending a sorry chapter in US history.

Dick Cheney upset about US pull out from Iraq

Former Vice President Dick Cheney said the pending pull out of U.S. troops from Iraq's cities could reverse the military progress made by American and Iraqi forces there since the George W. Bush administration's 2007 surge.

"I hope the Iraqis can deal with it," Mr. Cheney told The Washington Times' "America's Morning News" radio show. "At some point, they have to stand on their own, but I would not want to see the U.S. waste all the tremendous sacrifice that has gotten us to this point."

Gosh, Mr. Cheney, the entire Iraq War was a waste of national treasure and blood. 

Of course, what Cheney didn't say was that this was the end for the Cheney Plan. Cheney had spent 10 years working on a plan to restructure the Middle East.  In addition, a PNAC memo indicated that Bush had planed to invade Iraq before he was elected. Bush thought the war would vett him as a commander-in-cheif. Bush also knew the iraqis didn't have weapons of mass destruction and told Tony Blair he planned to fly a U2 over Iraq painted in UN colors with the express hope iraq would fire a missile at it. Bush wanted to provoke a war with Iraq.

The removal of US forces in iraq will be the first step toward defeating the real enemy who is in Afghnistan.
