The primacy of customers

The major and his wife were checking out of Costco for the first time after becoming members and we were complimenting one of the workers on how helpful the Costco staff are.

The worker said,"If you pay peanuts, you get monkeys."

This was a reference to a big Costco competitor who we left based upon a Consumer's Reports story.

Of interest, one of the founders of Costco, Jim Sinegal, supports President Obama an he will speak at the Democratic national convention.

Many small business people support the GOP because of the its position on taxes. However, other business people understand a robust customer base is dependent on a strong middle class.

Tax breaks are great at the end of a year, but a business that is successful understands the primacy of a customer base.
