Tampa Bay Times: Many Pinellas property owners could see higher tax bills


In the 1990s the FL cabinet changed tax directives so that local governments can raise taxes when property values are depressed. There is supposed to be a constitutional amendment in the next general election that will redress this .

However, this won't save Pinellas taxpayers from substantial tax increases of either 7.7 per cent or 5 per cent.

The Republican Pinellas country dominated board is trying to blame the increase on Gov. Rick Scott and his Republican legislature.
