DOL Urged To Speed Release Of New Rules Giving Overtime, Minimum Wage Protections to Home Care Workers, 06/12/12

By Doug Cunningham
The Paraprofessional Healthcare Institute is calling on the Department of Labor to quickly release it final regulation on providing federal minimum wage and overtime protections to America’s 2.5 million home care workers.

PHI President-Elect Jodi Sturgeon says it’s time these workers are treated like most other American workers when it comes to basic labor protections under the Fair Labor Standards Act. By 2020 direct-care workers are expected to become the nation’s largest workforce at 5 million workers.
