Senate Republicans filibustered the student loan bill.
Senate Republicans on blocked consideration of a Democratic bill to prevent the doubling of some student loan interest rates.
This will leave less than two months before interest rates on subsidized federal loans are set to increase.
In other industrial countries, public school is often longer than in the US. Students are not forced into debt to go to college as they are in the US.
