Far Left Side: American Exceptionalism

In 2010 America was 20th in freedom of the press, according to Reporters Without Borders. Not too shabby but we should expect no less than first place, right?

But in 2011, thanks to the heavy hand of our pals in the oligarchy, scared out of their imported Peruvian virgin wool britches by Occupy Wall Street, the freedom index in this country has plummeted to 47th. That will happen when you begin arresting journalists.

Wayne Madsen Reports also noted:

The Obama administration, according to multi-agency U.S. government sources , has authorized the eavesdropping of journalists' e-mails, text messages, and phone calls to determine to whom they are in contact within the government, particularly in the Departments of State, Defense, Justice, the CIA, the U.S. Congress' intelligence oversight committees, and the National Security Agency (NSA).

The NSA and FBI are also monitoring what websites are visited by government employees, including this one (Wayne Madsen Reports).
