Rightardia publishes its 7,000th article

7,000

Rightardia reached another milestone, publishing its 7,000th article.

We would like thank the GOP for giving us so much comedic material.

Our staff has certainly done a magnificent job.

We would also like to thank the many blogs we pull ideas and material from as well as the fine progressive artists whose work is essential to our site. There are just too many to mention.

Team Coco does the Michele Bachmann History Channel

Found this very funny video on Urantian Sojourn.

Rightardia has little sympathy for Bachmann because conservatives have been trying to bastardize US history for a long time to fit their ideological views.

In Texas, there was attempt to excise Thomas Jefferson form text books because of his views on organized religion. Other founders like Benjamin Franklin held similar sentiments. Franklin said light houses are more useful than churches.

Conservatives have tried to recast the Civil War as about states' rights, but Jefferson Davis never mentioned states' rights until after the Civil War, The CSA Constitution had the same federal supremacy clause as the US constition.

Another big conservative lie is that Democrats caused the Great Depression. Three Republican presidents were in office directly prior to the depression and the depression stated during Herbert Hoover's term.

Republicans also tried to claim credit for the Voting Rights Act, a hallmark of the LBJ presidency.

Clearly conservatives cannot be confused with the facts!

Well done, Team Coco!

Dangerous Intersection: The cost of America’s warmongering

Erich Vieth June 29, 2011

President Barack Obama recently suggested that America’s wars had cost $1 trillion. Reuters suggested that Obama is not being forthright:
Staggering as it is, that figure grossly underestimates the total cost of wars in Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistan to the U.S. Treasury and ignores more imposing costs yet to come, according to a study released on Wednesday. The final bill will run at least $3.7 trillion and could reach as high as $4.4 trillion

We agree with DI. The life cycle cost alone of the Iraq War was predicted to be $ one trillion during the Bush presidency once the cost of veteran's care was factored in.

It gets worse. Many economists have suggested that 90 per cent of the national debt has been caused by a series of rarely successful wars the US has started since World War 2.

Who has benefited by the is war mongering largess? That would be the military-industrial complex or the defense industry,

Rightardia knows that Muammar Qadaffi is an eccentric person who has done many bad things. but did the US really need to engage itself in another middle eastern war?

Rightardia suspects Obama is more conservative than many Americans suspect.

Florida Democratic Party objects to Florida’s Omnibus Elections Law Bill

The Florida Democratic Party (“FDP”) objects to the pre-clearance of Florida’s Omnibus Elections Law Bill, which the Florida Department of State submitted on or about June 8, 2011.

The FDP believes the following provisions of Chapter 2011-40, Laws of Florida, violate Section 5 of the Voting Rights Act. Specific violations are:

(1) Section 39, which reduces the number of days for early voting from fourteen to eight, and gives local supervisors of elections discretion over early voting hours;

(2) Section 26, which eliminates the right of registered voters who move from one Florida county to another to change their addresses at the time of voting, and instead requiring the voter to cast a provisional ballot; and

(3) Section 4, which requires any third-party organization engaging in voter registration efforts to submit voter registration applications within 48 hours of receipt, or face penalties of $50 per application per day late, and imposing fines of up to $1,000 for failing to comply with other provisions.1

In addition, the Florida Department of State’s submission omits certain required contents, namely, Emergency Rules promulgated by the Florida Division of Elections to implement Chapter 2011-40’s amendments to the third-party voter registration laws, which are also problematic.

Rightardia hopes that the Obama administration rejects the act which was intended to suppress voting, particularly of minorities.

Early voting in Florida has been allowed for 15-days prior to the election for the past 40 years in Florida. Light voter turnouts invariably benefit the militant ideologues of the GOP.

Democrats would be wise to request absentee ballots prior to the next election. See http://election.dos.state.fl.us/voting/absentee.shtml

Jimmy Kimmel Live: Michele Bachmann's Story of America

On Tuesday's show, Jimmy Kimmel presented his view of Michele Bachmann's story of America.

Rightardia has discussed many times the distorted view the right wing has of American history and its attempt to excise founders like Thomas Jefferson out of high school text books.

Bachman has said that John Quincy Adams was a founder who worked hard to eradicate slavery. JQ Adams was a sub-teen during the American Revolution. He did work to eradicate slavery when he was older during the onset to the Civil War.

WH Blog: A Key Legal Victory for Health Care

Posted by Stephanie Cutter on June 29, 2011 at 1:51 PM EDT

Today, the Affordable Care Act, and the millions of Americans and small businesses benefitting from it scored another victory when the 6th Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that the law is constitutional.
Today’s ruling in the case of Thomas More Law Center v. Obama is the first time an Appeals Court has ruled on the constitutionality of the law.
We’re gratified by today’s ruling, which came from judges appointed by Democratic and Republican Presidents who agreed that the law’s individual responsibility provision (sometimes called the minimum coverage provision) is constitutional. In today’s ruling, the court held that:
…the minimum coverage provision is a valid exercise of legislative power by Congress under the Commerce Clause...
Judge Martin also addressed the claim that the individual responsibility provision somehow regulates “inactivity.” He wrote:
Furthermore, far from regulating inactivity, the minimum coverage provision regulates individuals who are, in the aggregate, active in the health care market…The vast majority of individuals are active in the market for health care delivery because of two unique characteristics of this market: (1) virtually everyone requires health care services at some unpredictable point; and (2) individuals receive health care services regardless of ability to pay. Virtually everyone will need health care services at some point, including, in the aggregate, those without health insurance. Even dramatic attempts to protect one’s health and minimize the need for health care will not always be successful, and the health care market is characterized by unpredictable and unavoidable needs for care.
Judge Sutton agreed that the individual responsibility provision is constitutional and wrote:
In choosing how to regulate [people who choose to self-insure], Congress also did not exceed its power.
There are a number of cases regarding the Affordable Care Act that will continue to be heard in courts nationwide, and at the end of the day, we are confident the constitutionality of these landmark reforms will be upheld.
For more information about the individual responsibility provision, check out this post I wrote in May that outlines the importance of this provision.

Al Jazeera English Opinion: Tea Party activist urges attack on flotilla

Joshua Trevino just doesn't get it

"The far right is already lining up in support of whatever action Israel takes against the unarmed civilian relief activists.

Take a look at these tweets from Joshua Treviño, who was formerly a speechwriter in the Bush administration, a staffer for the failed senatorial campaign of Tea Party candidate Chuck DeVore (R-CA) and an employee of the Texas Public Policy Foundation. Treviño condemned Palestinians as morally depraved and deserving of any evil that befalls them.

However, Treviño went much farther than that. He openly called for the Israelis to kill any of his fellow Americans who get in their way. "Dear IDF: If you end up shooting any Americans on the new Gaza flotilla - well, most Americans are cool with that. Including me."

Treviño justified his twisted reasoning by likening the Americans bringing relief to the Gazans to Americans who served in the German army during World War II. After Kurt Schlichter, who writes for Andrew Breitbart's Big Government site, called for the sinking of the flotilla, Treviño wrote, 'Not morally different from a Nazi convoy, is it?'"

Why won't Michele Bachmann mud wrestle Sarah Palin?

Michele Bachmann said to Politic0:

They want to see two girls come together and have a mud wrestling fight, and I’m not going to give it to ‘em.

Rightrdia recommends that Rep. Bachmann reconsider mud wrestling with the Quitter Queen. Rightardia is certain she would win the GOP nomination for president provided she whipped Bible Spice.

Far Left Side: Why cats will never embrace religion

Up to Scratch

"Here's how religion works:

One guy says to his friends and acquaintances "You better cross your eyes on Thursdays or God will rot your huevos off."

His friends, etc. take his word for it because, hey, they heard a story from their cousin's brother down in Jersey...

From this example it's clear that the fundamental ingredient in faith is doubt, which is why religion is so dead-set against facts.

Now cats are not burdened by anything so needlessly worrisome as doubt. True, they can be frightened to the point of apoplexy on occasion but for the most part their world-view says they're top predator and everyone and everything else better just look out, although they're certainly happy to cut some slack for the miserable wretch who opens the cans and cleans out the litter boxes.

Dogs, on the other hand, are all about doubt. They're smart enough to know their environment is full of sinister manifestations out to do them and their masters no damn good so they've devised their own religion to give them succor, complete with their own gods... us.

What? You don't see this in their eyes every time you walk in the door?

Heretic.

That, then, is essentially the difference between dog and cat owners. Dog owners enjoy being treated as deities, perhaps even need this canine glorification to satisfy some inner emotional shortcoming.

Cat owners are simply happy to be treated as equals... that and not having their eyes clawed out in their sleep by the fuzzy little bastards."

Ria Novosti: Gang of 46 pregnant robbers skirted the law in China

MOSCOW, June 15 (RIA Novosti) -Police in the eastern Chinese city of Hangzhou have uncovered a gang consisting of 46 pregnant robbers, according to the China Daily.

The women, aged between 20 and 40, committed more than 400 thefts a month in the city, the paper said.

The women said they repeatedly got pregnant because police will not usually arrest pregnant or breastfeeding women. One of the gang's members even got pregnant eight times in 10 years.

Since the gang was uncovered and its members arrested, the number of robberies in the city has decreased significantly, a police report said.

Politifact: Michelle Bachmannn's many mistatements

Bachmannochio

Michele Bachmannn has a law degree from William and Mary. She is more educated than Sarah Palin so there no excuses for her constant political distortions of the Obama record or American history.

Rightardia never thought Sarah Palin was bright. Bachmman is smarter but her conservative viewpoint is little diffrent from Palin's.

The Politifact article discusses her many political inaccuracies. Politifact has rated her many provocative statements "Barely True."

Rightardia considers Bachmann a "white liar" which has a double  meaning in her case.

NMA: New York approves gay marriage law

uploaded by  on Jun 27, 2011
In New York State, the battle for gay marriage came down to the wire in the Republican-controlled state senate.

In the end, four Republican senators defied their party to back same-sex marriage, making New York state the sixth state in the US to allow same-sex marriage.

President Barack Obama has been giving speeches to gay activists, but he still says he personally believes marriage is between a man and a woman.

New York's Conservative Party has vowed to go after the Republicans who voted for gay marriage.

But these four legislators have no doubt found a new source of support.

Mario Piperni had some interesting comments on the story:

“What is straight?  A line can be straight, or a street, but the human heart,
oh, no, it’s curved like a road through mountains.”
~Tennessee Williams, A Streetcar Named Desire, 1947
For every narrow-minded, homophobic bigot out there, this one’s for you. Oh, and if you believe that homosexuality is a ‘life-style choice‘, then make no mistake about it, you’re a narrow-minded, homophobic bigot.

Got Milk: Women assaults police with her what?

Rightardia would  expect the late night TV comedy shows to milk this story for all that it is worth, for sure!

A community blogger from On Milwaukee jokes -- the assault but might violate the Second Amendment.

“The Second Amendment protects the right to bear arms, but not to bare breasts, so that defense will not hold water, or milk for that matter... Now that the female breast has been exposed as a dangerous weapon, watch for liberals to demand reasonable regulation, such as banning concealed carry and requiring training for users, such as may be provided by a training bra.”

Ann Coulter: Republicans should hide who they are running for President

The pompous Anne Coulter on Fox Business Network:

I would prefer for Republicans to hide who they are running for President and only announce it like a month before the election, so you don’t have time for the entire mainstream media to belittle, attack, ridicule and demonize whomever our candidate is.

This is another example of GOP victimology:  the mainstream media won't treat our wing nut candidates right so we need to keep them secret until right before the national elections.

On the debt ceiling

Democrats are suggesting that the congresional ceiling on the national debt is unconstitutional.

The 14th Amendment.reads:

The validity of the public debt of the United States, authorized by law... shall not be questioned . . .

Will Obama have the cojones to blow off the 112th GOP congress? Will the president go to court against these GOP obstructionists or just ignore them?

DU: Senator Bernie Saunders on Shared Sacrifice

Sen. Bernie Saunders
Dear Mr. President,

This is a pivotal moment in the history of our country. Decisions are being made about the national budget that will impact the lives of virtually every American for decades to come. As we address the issue of deficit reduction we must not ignore the painful economic reality of today - which is that the wealthiest people in our country and the largest corporations are doing phenomenally well while the middle class is collapsing and poverty is increasing. In fact, the United States today has, by far, the most unequal distribution of wealth and income of any major country on earth.

Everyone understands that over the long-term we have got to reduce the deficit - a deficit that was caused mainly by Wall Street greed, tax breaks for the rich, two wars, and a prescription drug program written by the drug and insurance companies. It is absolutely imperative, however, that as we go forward with deficit reduction we completely reject the Republican approach that demands savage cuts in desperately-needed programs for working families, the elderly, the sick, our children and the poor, while not asking the wealthiest among us to contribute one penny.

Mr. President, please listen to the overwhelming majority of the American people who believe that deficit reduction must be about shared sacrifice. The wealthiest Americans and the most profitable corporations in this country must pay their fair share. At least 50 percent of any deficit reduction package must come from revenue raised by ending tax breaks for the wealthy and eliminating tax loopholes that benefit large, profitable corporations and Wall Street financial institutions. A sensible deficit reduction package must also include significant cuts to unnecessary and wasteful Pentagon spending.

Please do not yield to outrageous Republican demands that would greatly increase suffering for the weakest and most vulnerable members of our society. Now is the time to stand with the tens of millions of Americans who are struggling to survive economically, not with the millionaires and billionaires who have never had it so good.

Respectfully,

Sen. Bernie Sanders;
and Co-signers

SIGN PETITION HERE:

Rightardia agrees with Senator Saunders. We got out of the depression taxing the top American incomes at the 90 per cent level until JFK was president. It took more than 20 years to dig ourselves out, but the economy boomed after World War 2.

The entire US federal tax structure needs to be reformed. Corporate tax now accounts for 6 per cent of federal revenues whereas it used to be about 30 per cent. The Estate tax needs to be reformed to weaken the conservative oligarchy that thinks it owns the US.

Corporations create jobs as does the government, but no corporation will last long without a strong customer base or competent workforce. A corporation is a collective entity.
