Use your absentee ballot or lose your right to vote in Florida

Uploaded by rolandsmartin on Nov 7, 2011

Washington Watch intends to continue to shine a bright light on efforts by Republican-controlled states to suppress voting rights -- rights won with blood, sweat and tears by the heroes and sheroes of the Civil Rights Movement.

We've had guests every week on this program to tell you what you can do to make sure you're not kept out of the 2012 election.

In this week's edition of Washington Watch, we're joined by a congresswoman who is beating the drum in her home state, Congresswoman Fredericka Wilson of Florida.

Use your absentee ballot or you may lose your right to vote in Florida.

The Rightardia staffers like the absentee ballot because you can sit down at a PC and research the candidates. Lat year we actually discovered two GOP candidates we liked, Mike Fasano and Peter Nehr.

Rightardia published both the St. Petersburg Times, soon to be the Tampa Bay times, and the Tampa Tribune political picks. Of interest, the two papers often agreed on who the best candidate was, but often disagreed on state constitutional amendments.

The absentee ballot has an interesting option if you look for it. Each time you use the absentee ballot, you can request the next absentee ballot in a primary or general election. This is called a standing request for an absentee ballot.

You can request an absentee ballot in Pinellas county:

CHECK YOUR BALLOT STATUS ONLINE or CALL (727) 464-VOTE (8683). .
NOTE:  BALLOTS ARE NOT FORWARDABLE - Be sure to provide your current mailing address.
