By now most Americans know that GOP "tax reform" is designed to help the most affluent Americans. Herman Cain's tax plan was not well-received.
Rick Perry's tax plan which was a rehash of Mike Huckabee's fair tax got somewhat better press.
Both GOP plans result in regressive flat taxes. The GOP objective appears to eliminate a progressive income tax system that taxes the affluent at higher rates than the less affluent and to replace income tax with a flat tax.
The Republicans have been selling tax reform since the Reagan administration.
Flat taxes, which are regressive, would place a higher tax burden on working and middle class Americans.
It's as simple as that.
Be aware, too, that most US taxes are flat: sales tax and property tax are good examples.
