WSJ: Chris Christie won't seek GOP nomination

According to Chris Christie, "Now is not my time,''

Chistie is smart because any Republican that wins in 2012 is likely to be a one termer. Republicans have never fared well in a US economic or a defense crises. The public has elected Democrats during World War 1, World War 2, and the Korean war as well as the Great Depression.

Once the dust clears and the economy is back on track, Republicans are elected. This is what happened after the two world wars and when the Great Depression ended.

GOP ideology centers around enhancing the tax structure for the affluent and deregulation. This will will not fix the economy. It was the the Bush tax cuts, deregulation and corporate greed that caused the economic contraction in the USA that had a world wide impact.

Putting back the rogues in power who brought us to the brink is not what this nation needs.

And then again, perhaps it is exactly what the US needs to see: the failure of American conservatism.  American conservatism doesn't work: it creates unemployment, wealth and income gaps between the 'have nots" and the "have mores;' and poverty.

Perhaps Americans will finally realize that corporate leaders and their fascist minions don't have the 'right stuff" to lead this nation.
Democratic presidents have consistently done a better job of balancing the budget and controlling the national debt.

Of course, another GOP presidential election in 2012 could push the US into a depression. This is exactly what happened after Herbert Hoover was elected.
