Ricky the Rightard and his last chance for happiness

Wedding bells for Ricky?

Rightrdia has written about our family black sheep, Ricky the Rightard.

This ne'er do week actually went out and bought a gun with his unemployment insurance. He lived with his parents for 5 years after he lost his job  and then moved in with a friend for the last two years to pay down his credit card debt. After  seven years, his credit card debt appears to be unchanged. .

Ricky will be 40 shortly and Wirehead told him him chances for finding a wife were about 1 in 4 when he was in his late thirties. Once he hits 40, the odds go to 1: 20.

Ricky will hit 40 in a couple of months.

Ricky has some wonderful Latin friends who set him up with a professional lady from South America who has a government job. The women is beautiful and has a 5 year old child. The women is of the same Christian faith and belongs to the same political party that Ricky does.

Ricky also likes Latin women with their brown eyes and dark hair.

This sounded like a match made in heaven for Ricky, but Ricky was concerned about all of the responsibility he would have if he married a women who had a child.

Wirehead pointed out that single women with children in their mid-thirties would probably be a better catch than a single women who had never been married in that age group.

From Alfred Lord Tennyson's poem In Memoriam:27, 1850:

I hold it true, whate'er befall;
I feel it, when I sorrow most;
'Tis better to have loved and lost
Than never to have loved at all.
Of course, Ricky is also a mama's boy and it would take a really special women to replace mom, now wouldn't it?

When Wirehead asked him how the date went, Ricky said the woman was very quiet in a group environment. That was the only "fault" he could find with her. Ricky liked her young child and the ex-husband was a non-issue.

Wirehead suggested he take the woman out and see how quiet she is on a date. She might react differently in a one on one date.

Ricky noted the woman lived about 50 miles from his home. Wirehead pointed out that many couples are separated by far longer distances,

Ricky has a general type job and Wirehead suggested he could find another job in the town she lives. Since the women had a wonderful job, she would probably expect Ricky to move if any sort of relationship developed.

Since Ricky has no home of his own, he would not be able to make a compelling case for her to move.

This may be Ricky's last chance for happiness, but he may be too dense to realize it. Ricky also has a tendency to take a pessimistic view of opportunities.

Will Ricky go for the gold or look at a gift horse in the mouth?

Stay tuned!
