Mittens want the "Evil Empire" back
Mittens gave a speech to the Citadel that could be expected from a establishment Republican looking through the rear view mirror to the 20th century.
Romney’s speech wants a strong military and a vigorous overseas presence, which he said has been diminished under President Obama. However, even many Republicans realize this "evil empire" cannot be maintained in view of the present economic crises.
Pat Buchanan wrote an excellent editorial stating why the US could no longer afford its world hegemony Buchanan stated:
Defense is already scheduled for $350 billion in cuts over the decade. If the super-committee fails to come up with $1.2 trillion in specified new cuts, an automatic slicer chops another $600 billion from defense.Terrorism is in the spectrum of low intensity conflict which does not require big weapons systems.
Government spending programs such as Social Security and Medicare which are funded by the FICA payroll tax. The other big program is defense that is funded by federal income tax and consumes more than 30 per cent of the federal budget.
While the speech focused its criticism on the president, he cautioned that the nation must not “crawl into an isolationist shell. Romney was attacking fellow Republicans like Pat Buchanan who argue that financial restraints require the United States to curtail overseas operations.
Rightardia believes Romney understanding of the Armed Services and foreign policy is seriously lacking.
If Romney were elected and convinced Congress to spend on defense like Bush did, it would push the US into a recession. Recessions inevitably occur after wars end.
Romney should be talking about jump starting the economy, not defense. It is hard to defend a structure that is crumbling from the inside. Rightardia believes Romney understanding of the Armed Services and foreign policy is seriously lacking.

More money needs to be spend internally on the US infrastructure, not externally on defense.
