Bush's dream was that every American would own a home. So the administration encouraged easy credit and the congress deregulated and deregulated. The Wall Street investment banks took advantage of the regulatory lapse and launched a real estate Ponzi scheme that made billions.
The loss of home equity is the outcome of the Bush Ownership Society.
