Gallup: American public approves of inter-racial marraige

According to a Gallup Poll, "(a) record-high 86% of Americans now say they approve of marriages between blacks and whites. . ."

Only 4 per cent of Americans approved of such unions in a 1958 Gallup poll. 

This is one case in which the times have changed. 

From a genetic standpoint, such marriages make a lot of sense. Whites have very little genetic variation because the so called Caucasian race is probably descended from 200 to 300 individuals. Most geneticists consider Europeans to be western Asian because Europeans and Asians are genetically identical. 

Black people have a much broader and variable genetic heritage because they are the ancestors of the original homo sapiens who left Africa, migrated into the middle wast then along the Asian coast and then migrated into Europe. 

Current research suggest some of the tribes in Europe bred with Neanderthals and their Asian contemporaries, Denisovians . Both the Asians and Europeans may have picked up some unique genes in the process. 

Regardless, the treasure chest of human genetic heritage is African Anthropologists believe all modern and archaic humans evolved in Africa.
