Russia plans to base helicopters on Mistral-class warships
The Ka-52 Alligator was initially developed as a ground-based attack helicopter for coordinating and supporting ground, rather than naval, operations.

The Alligator name hinted at a naval application for the KA-52.
The Georgians are unhappy that the Russians bought Mistral-class warships from France because Russia has access to a seaport in the Ukraine. These ships and Alligators could be used in offensive operations against Georgia.
Rightardia suggests that the Georgians simply mind their P's and Q's with Russia.
The Georgians provoked the recent war between the two counties. The Georgian reach exceeded its grasp even though Georgia was armed with US weapons and supported with Israeli technical expertise.
